HOT! CHATMaybe I am a 30-year-old boomer, but Meta's Metaverse is stupid and I am glad they will charge 50% commission. In doing so, they will disincentivize growth inverse to how the 1995-2015 sales tax laws incentivized ecommerce growth. I hope Metaverse dies for humanity's sake.- Trevor Kuntz

The Ukraine War, implications, outcome?
HOT! CHATHistorical memory of chemical weapons use is long. 1.3 million people were casualties of phosgene gas in WWI. Chemical weapons use was very limited in WWII (some use in Ethiopia, China, and the Bari disaster), but many people today would remember the horrific use of Tabun, Sarin, and phosgene...- Trevor Kuntz

HOT! CHATLife in any other historical era would likely be harder than it is now, so we should be grateful for the times we live in. I often think about the lives of my ancestors and what their lives looked like and what would have brought them happiness/purpose in their eras. For most of human history...- Trevor Kuntz

Random Chat, Thoughts, Posts, and/or Rants Thread
HOT! CHATI feel like an all-or-nothing approach would be detrimental long-term. I generally follow three simple rules for how I structure my life: 1. Does my lifestyle align with my values and purpose? 2. Will me 10 years from now be happy with how I am living now? 3. Is my lifestyle sustainable for...- Trevor Kuntz

The Ukraine War, implications, outcome?
HOT! CHATYes, you have been supporting one-sided compromise and de-escalation since this started, but for whatever reasons, you completely buy into Russia's viewpoint and only expect Ukraine to compromise as if it is Ukraine's fault for being invaded, bombarded, and occupied. Why, in your opinion, is...- Trevor Kuntz

My city gives away free mulch
IDEAThere is a very popular website called ChipDrop where people sign up for a tree chipping company to come out and drop an entire truckload of mulch in their driveway/yard for free. It means free mulch for customers and cheaper disposal (after fuel and labor) for the tree chippers. There are a...- Trevor Kuntz

HOT! CHATMost mosquitoes in Mexico and southern US are going to be Aedes aegypti (Asian Tigers). They bite most at dusk and at dawn and bite the ankles. Most mosquitoes in Canada would be Anopheles or Culex, which bite during the day and are less likely to target ankles. Zappers are ok but the best...- Trevor Kuntz

The Ukraine War, implications, outcome?
HOT! CHATI would kind of argue that this is exactly what did happen in Vietnam and Afghanistan and Iraq. In the latter two, the governments did fall, but enough locals and foreign fighters opposed the US occupations that, in the end, we left without making any long-term gains. We achieved tactical...- Trevor Kuntz

The Ukraine War, implications, outcome?
HOT! CHATThis whole situation has made it crystal clear for me how wrong the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were. I was 9/10 years old when those invasions happened, and coming from a (formerly) very conservative family, thought George W Bush was a good guy when I was a kid. Over the years, I realized...- Trevor Kuntz

HOT! CHATMosquitoes are attracted to stinky feet... They are also more likely to bite blonde people, pregnant women, and people who already have malaria. https://blog.chron.com/sciguy/2011/07/want-to-attract-mosquitoes-have-smelly-feet/- Trevor Kuntz

HOT! CHATCivilians should only be supporting civilians, not militants/combatants. I feel the same about the charities in the US that are community-specific (ie Shia community, Sunni community, Yazidi community, Kurdish community, etc) and end up blurring the lines between helping a community and...- Trevor Kuntz

The Ukraine War, implications, outcome?
HOT! CHATRight, this is all true. Best case, this situation just delays our establishment in Romania by 4 to 12 months, and hopefully in the long-term, that won't matter too much anyway. We'll see where things are when my partners visit in June. Has the war in Ukraine affected lifestyles/business...- Trevor Kuntz
