How to retire early, even with 2 kids! Blah blah blah...

    HOT! INVESTING
I originally had much more content on Investor Junkie to talk about business ownership. I consider investing to be much more holistic and should include business ownership. Unfortunately, most of the readers I had didn't think that way. The problem was my audience wanted more slowlane topics...

Yes I agree. It's opportunities, it is skills, with a dash of luck added in. I guess what I'm saying is skills (the execution) is where most fail. I don't expect your books to answer that specifically, but it's a real problem. Well in my case you know the obvious answer ;-)

Yea I agree there's no way to really know. Unfortunately, there's no "if you do this as a career this is your best outcome" crystal ball.

Actually just started working with them soon before I sold. I never went to their conferences. Bankrate is a shell of what it used to be. NerdWallet ate their lunch in the online space. Bankrate certainly has had a few M&A misteps (cough Bankaholic for $15M in 2008). I think with Red Ventures...

Overall I agree with the message though critical of one part. You mention about survivor bias of 401(k)/slow lane retirees, which I agree. It's horrible. Though you can say the same about small biz owners making a decent income, or like me who sold their business in 10 years. Most don't. Yes...

Yea sorry GDPR wasn't worth the risk (legal, financial, etc) of 1.5% of the audience coming from the EU. Plus US FATCA laws makes it very difficult for individuals outside of the US to open an account. So felt it was best to just outright block. The new owners will prob change this at some...

SPIC insurance protects you from fraud by the broker. So no technically your money deposited isn't touched by the broker. Meaning if they went bust you would eventually get your money back but it's nowhere near as fast as say FDIC insurance.

I've been following Tony's work since 1991. I've read all his books, done his CDs, gone to an event which he was part of in 2000, UPW, and Business Mastery. Hell I bought his regular audio cassettes "podcasts" before there was such a thing as a podcast. I've even interviewed him. The Financial...

Another popular site The Simple Dollar once had an article of how to save money on xmas wrapping paper to save money by using newspaper! Or the other article I remember reading on how to make your own soap! Stuff like this just drives me batty with personal finance bloggers. Focus on...

Because he himself makes at least $400k/year from his very site stating how to live off of $30k/year and how is bikes to F*cking everywhere and goes to the local library to rent his videos and books. Mind you he lives in Colorado. He isn't biking in the winter! I get the self-sufficient and...

Yes it appears legit. How can they make money? A number of ways: Sell order info (like Robinhood does) Margin interest Fees paid to them when an individual uses an ETF/Mutual fund Managed services (I don't think they have this though)

No they do but only %1/annually to the investors. They make most of their income in the loan origination.

Great example! Debt since that is how they make their money. They really don't make money from investors like myself other than connecting the borrower. From the affiliate side the payouts were 4x better for the debt and always cultivated websites. Where the investor side they really ignored...
