Career Stagnation - When Should You Make A Move?

Also, for someone who produces such polished videos, your posts here and your engagement sound like you have a VA doing your forum outreach. Take some time and engage. Doesn't @Andy Black have some thread about taking off your coat and staying a while? (I may be making that up, or massively...

Burned down my slowlane political career for entrepreneurship 17 months ago

    SLOWLANE EXECUTION
Apparently I've missed this thread until now. I'm glad you found this forum, I've followed your journey on the other one, but there was a lot of non-business chat in there so I didn't really join in. The wife is interested in doing budgeting/financial life cleanup locally, so we may be ordering...

    NOTABLE!
I would spend some time up front making sure the guy didn't patent it. You probably don't want an expensive lawsuit if this thing takes off.

Any tricks to finding a quality business partner?

    SOCIAL MEDIA
100% agree with this part. My post was based on the assumption that with limited funds, you would get the best bang for your buck with a firm that specializes in this area. Maybe someone has some good data on whether or not that assumption is accurate?

Whatever you think you're going to spend in annual repairs and maintenance, multiply it by about 4 until you have a solid history that you can use to estimate.

    Financial Literacy

If you already have a base understanding, I would actually go almost right to the source. The IRS puts out publications on a wide-ranging list of topics, which provide detail that many people rely on their accountant for. As far as courses, I unfortunately have no experience. I learned on the...

What do you use for your project proposal?

Depends on what you need. I know you can create sections and save them, then layer them into different proposals to save retyping the info. You can also create pricing sections so clients can choose from different options. Other than that, I haven't gotten too far into it.

What do you use for your project proposal?

I picked up a subscription to nusii.com when it was on appsumo. I like it so far, but I don't know if I would pay full price for it. I like the style/concept though, so I would suggest something similar. The main benefit is it's all electronic, so the client can accept online and you can even...

I am a tax professional, and I'd say you're doing pretty well so far. You add some solid depth to my brevity.

Yes, you can file an amended return if you find something that should have been reported and was not. Assuming you had gains, you'll probably owe some additional tax, but it's not like they're going to bankrupt you with penalties or throw you in jail.

Related to what @JScott said - if you had transactions in 2017 and you already filed your taxes, you may want to re-examine if you had any reportable transactions (either gain or loss). I think the IRS will be cracking down on this in the next year or so.

Yes, capital losses can offset capital gains.

RE - to sell or to hold?

    REAL ESTATE
No, but you'll have a roof one year, an air conditioner another year, a water heater another year, painting, flooring, appliances, tubs, toilets, vanities, cabinets, countertops, etc etc. Your $500 a year reserve is incredibly low. One of my rentals just had to have the toilet removed and...

Every transaction is a taxable event, not just when you convert it to cash. So if you go from cash to BTC, BTC to ETH, and back to BTC, you would have a gain or loss on each of the last two transactions. Edited: you should be able to download a report from your trading platform showing all your...

You often get to a point in business where you know you need to hire things out, but you're only bringing in enough revenue to equal a salary for yourself. That's the point where you cut expenses, save up a small cushion, and bite the bullet to hire/outsource. It's painful, it's stressful, but...

Figuring Out Net Income for Owning A Business

    HOT!
Sorry @JScott, I just had to make the corrections. General idea is good though, I just had to make some minor corrections. That being said, if anyone in this thread needs help running simulations, just let me know and I'll plug it into my software.
