Excellent point. And thank you for sharing. Sounds simple, but hard to make the ask (for me)... curious, what would you do in my situation. The site I'm acquiring has 3 monthly subscription customers who generate 60% of the revenue (3 of 10 total currently). They have each renewed for 3+...

Richard, please share what new vetting you learned in the recent transaction. I'm currently under contract for 10 days (transferred funds to escrow.com yesterday) buying my first online business. Domains transferred to me yesterday. Hosting transferred tomorrow. Would love to learn from...

Anyone used a successful Amazon Affiliate site to start selling as FBA?

I'm in the process of buying a content site (reviews) that makes commission off Amazon purchase referrals (affiliate). I figure, instead of simply sending links to Amazon for others to profit, why not refer my links to my own amazon product. I know it will take a little time to get my amazon...

"In It" for the Long Game

ecommercewolf - I'll need your expertise to help me out as I'm close to pulling the trigger on an FBA site for purchase. Buying a site gets me in the game, it has stable earnings with nice growth opportunity. But being a newbie I'm going to need mentoring to get this thing in the right...

I'm here to learn how to transition from the corp job to building my next 25 year career in making money online. 25+ years in IT Software & Sales, had a great career. I'm very good at what I do, and will continue to do it another 5 to 8 years as it pays great and I can continue to sock away...

Buying Internet Sites. 3 small sites vs. 1 large site. Feedback Needed.

@UnrealCreative: Thanks for the tip. I have been following RichardG's portfolio strategy. This is the genesis of my thinking behind 3 sites. Buy the most solid sites I come across, invest time, build and grow. Downside: I will lack the focus on 3 vs. 1 single site. And I do have a full...

Buying Internet Sites. 3 small sites vs. 1 large site. Feedback Needed.

Biophase: thanks for chiming in. Part of my reason for buying this first site is to fund an R8 purchase similar to your Mclaren purchase (buy a biz vs. paying cash for luxury item) :) so you have inspired me. I sent you a PM with the FBA site details, PnL etc for the primary site I'm looking...

Buying Internet Sites. 3 small sites vs. 1 large site. Feedback Needed.

Sebastya, I'm assuming that an Affiliate model, you would not consider "in control"? I seem to prefer content sites where I can expand quality content vs. creating / managing physical product. Since affiliate is usually a 1 time commission on a purchase. How about ad revenue such as mediavine?

Sebastya, what type of sites do you feel offer "more control" and why?

You nailed it, this was a great read. “What if I do a bunch of small websites instead of one big website, so it won’t be as risky. I shouldn’t do that?” Even after I posted this question on the forum today, I think I knew the answer. Be a little more patient, find a quality content site...

Good point, you are correct. By "passive" I meant not working 9-5, however, yes I expect to invest time and $$$ into the sites.

Buying Internet Sites. 3 small sites vs. 1 large site. Feedback Needed.

This forum has inspired me to invest into my side hustle of buying Internet sites. Been doing my DD for previous 3 months. Researching like crazy, talking to brokers, dabbling in Wordpress development, affiliate marketing, etc. I have a very busy professional job so I can spend nights /...

Guys, what process, steps, or service are you using to validate the company you are acquiring is legit? Since this is my first one, I'm ok paying a little extra to get it done right.

richardd, amazing thread. congrat's on your success, and thank you for taking the time to share. Perfect timing for me personally as I'm in the hunt to buy a digital business, my criteria is similar to yours. However it's very intimidating to me. Your "playbook" has brought me to the 5...

You are very close. Finish your degree. I hated college, thought it was a waste until I found an end goal that my degree got me into so I finished with a 4.0. You don't need to be a programmer. Use your skills to manage people, go into tech sales, teaching, a million jobs you can "pivot"...
