I like this idea. It's very cool and it seems fastlane if you can do it on your own. Keep us updated with your progress.

    Rap Group

    WEB/DIGITAL
I agree, soundclick is a great option. Alot of people have gotten a big break there. I don't really know how it is for rap, but rock bands who are just starting usually book some local gigs. Sometimes they even have to pay the venue to open for a band if they don't sell enough tickets. But if...

My Jimmy Wales Enlightenment - Possibly a new business idea?

    IDEA
I was with a friend the other day during my last day of high school and we were discussing long term things. My friend doesn’t have the fastlane mentality or an optimistic view on what his purpose in this world is. The weird thing is that he is an awesome drummer, probably the greatest in my...

Solja Boy Tell Em' - 18YR. OLD with Lambo. HAH!

    OFF-TOPIC
I think music in general has a huge underground base that has great sound with substance but they aren't earning a tenth of what MTV markets. But as far as rap goes, Nas, Kanye, Rhymefest; those are the three I listen to and I would have to say the majority of their lyrics have meaning.

    Viral Video

    WEB/DIGITAL
I googled Jones' Big a$$ Track Rental and Storage and got this. He has an interesting story and I love the commercial. Viral marketing is interesting. My friend actually just sent me this video today for pure entertainment. But those two websites that are mentioned at the end probably get a...

Challenge: Want to turn $1,000 into $40,000 before December.

    WEB/DIGITAL
It may be easier to begin thinking about different internet ideas and then ask yourself "How can I bootstrap this business with only $1k?"

    The Art of the Start

I read this book and enjoyed it thoroughly. I think his section on business mantras is awesome. It made me think of start-up ideas as something way more simplified with more meaning.

    Should I just learn code?

    WEB/DIGITAL
This is a pretty general question but I think some people may feel the same way that I do right now. I have several ideas about e-businesses and they all entail an online program. I'm not trying to build an online store or dropshipping business (which I could use open source or Volusion to...

You have to leave your comfort zone!

    MINDSET
Awesome post! Rep++++ I think once you get out of your comfort zone enough times the uncomfortable becomes the comfortable, or almost the norm. I think we all run into things in everyday life that proves this. The girl example is fantastic. I think you can tell alot about the guy who didn't...

    Finding competitor pricing

When I'm thinking about a business idea and I need to find answers I just e-mail them and pretend to be a potential customer. Or when I really want some information I tell them I'm doing a school report. It's not exactly ethical, but the info you find is extremely helpful.

    Using local web developers?

    WEB/DIGITAL
I've completely forgot who said (servicefly, sprite?) and what thread it was in, but I read a suggestion a few days ago about contacting local web developers instead of using an online freelancer. This definitely helped me in terms of insecurity of starting a business because the idea of sending...

    book recommendations

E-Myth and Think and Grow Rich were fantastic. But when you read the E-Myth, read it in terms that your going to use his strategies to start a franchise, because he promotes buying into franchises a few times. I didnt really like Ryan Allis' book that much. I might get burned from saying that...

real estate or owning a business? which one to go with????

I was initially interested in real estate investing, until after I did alot of reading I found out that with my small amount of funds it was pretty slowlane. Like Runum said, you want to be the guy starting the franchise, not the guy buying into one. The internet has leveled out business for the...

    Daddy's Rules For Dating

    FUNNY
After having a teenage sister I don't think I could handle having a teenage daughter. But so far I've been able to live out both perspectives: going to the girl's house and picking her up, and having a guy come to my house who's picking up my sister. I'm not a big fan of the second one.

Ditto to Michael and Yankees. It's always cool seeing super successful young people on the forums. Do you plan on posting a success story?

Please tell us about your ride(s)...

    OFF-TOPIC CHAT
About a year and a half ago it cost me $45 for the Learners Permit. After that I drove for six months with Mom, signed up for the test and then passed. I believe the Permit was the only fee. In NY, if you're under 18 you can't drive past 9:00 PM, but rules are meant to be broken.

    how to develop an idea?

    IDEA
To elaborate more on what dkt has said, very few companies started out as global giants. If I recall correctly, IBM focused a large amount of its efforts on cash registers in its early days. It's since expanded into everything from computers to business consulting. What I've learned is that...
