    What Will Boom? - 2018-2023

    HOT!
I believe augmented reality glasses will replace the smartphone. Current barriers to this happening are the size of the glasses, control methods and field of view.

    Spotify for Textbooks

Ok I like this idea. Fastest, cheapest way: Step one: I could focus on one degree, say civil engineering, and find PDF copies of the textbooks needed, develop an iOS app (most people use iOS), and show it to people. Cost: Barest possible product, maybe $500. Only real cost is the app...

    Spotify for Textbooks

Screenshotting is a definitely an issue I've investigated. Screenshots can be prevented on Android (I assume also on iOS). I can't see any viable solution for a web browser... therefore, develop apps only?? Yeah, as Hicks said, most engineering textbooks are this price. e.g. Wiley: Civil...

    Spotify for Textbooks

I'm sure everyone has heard terms like this before. Replace Spotify with Netflix or Uber, whatever. My idea isn't revolutionary but there's a need that isn't currently being filled. I'll spell out the problem, solution and why in dot points because dot points are simple. Problem: Textbooks for...

Committing and No Longer Selling Myself Short

    EXECUTION
Great thread so far mate. Just read the whole way through it. I have no experience on the subject matter, but is there an argument for bidding at cost price until you win a contract. Then if (when) you deliver the product on time and to spec, the government is happy with you and will look...

PSA: Do most of your work on a computer? Then invest in a better laptop.

    MINDSET
100% best thing you can do. I have a reasonable spec laptop, but I was considering buying a newer one that ran faster. Instead I spent $250 getting a Samsung SSD, installed it in a couple of hours and now my computer is lightening fast. It feels like a brand new computer.

Can We Talk About Gary V? (Vaynerchuck)

    HOT! PEOPLE
I watch a little bit of Gary whenever I get the chance, and he is the perfect example of not doing everything a person says, but deciding for yourself what applies to you. He talks alot of shit. But amongst the shit is some nuggets of absolute gold. Like his meetings with clients are great...

What do you think the impact of self driving cars will be?

    HOT!
Agree with everything except this last part. I think a private system would work brilliantly for a car version of public transport. Low barriers to entry, just need to buy a car, and your in the taxi business.

    Hello from Australia !

    INTRO
Yeah, where you from? Newcastle here. Hows that entrepreneurial mind gonna go when you have memorise mind numbing facts at uni? I feel the pain, I'm 4th year civil eng/business.

What do you think the impact of self driving cars will be?

    HOT!
I love this topic. I'm a huge follower of AI, mixed reality and all this automation thats coming. I do agree that there will be enormous job losses, initially in the unskilled jobs, and followed shortly after in the skilled ones. Myself, going into my final year of civil engineering at uni...

How to make the most of a Small Office Space

    REAL ESTATE
For me its shelves. Walls are such wasted space, get some of those floating shelves and put them up everywhere. And you also gotta keep it uncluttered. A slightly cluttered small room feels terrible in my opinion.

The Amazing Unknown Secret to Finally Unlocking Your Million Dollar Idea

    IDEA MINDSET
I read that title, and thought, 'here we go', haha. But very well said. The hardest thing in the world is knowing what you don't know. But by doing stuff, whatever that stuff may be, you can get closer.

How to get out of the profession you're in and become an entrepreneur

    HOT! MINDSET
I'm interested to follow your story here. My plan is somewhat similar to you (except in engineering) work for a few years to get experience/chartered and then open my own office. If you do decide to pursue your own chiro office, please keep us updated.

    Hello from Newcastle, Aus

    INTRO
I'm meant to be completing assignments due this week, but instead I'm up to Part 3 of The Millionaire Fastlane. I think it's pretty clear where my passion is. Ok, this tutoring thing would definitely work. There is hole in the market now for a marketplace of tutors with reviews/ratings. I'm...

    Hello from Newcastle, Aus

Totally agree mate, Brisbane is a massive boom region at the moment too! I see that Brisbane just allowed the construction of 3, 25 storey unit blocks in an area with a height limit of 15 storeys. The times are changing and its good to see.
