It'd have to be a pretty big living room - we were using a 10x30 space, plus a 10x10 space and some extra space in my apartment.

Thanks - the MRI showed 4 different problems...we are going to try to avoid surgery, but needless to say hauling hundreds of pounds of crates isn't/wasn't helping!

Help Us Build a School in Ethiopia

    MARKETPLACE
I think what got me was the personal photos he shared of him in country. And he may have legitimately used the money the way he said he would...but there were some less than ethical things done in the last couple weeks that caused me to lose confidence in general in him, and I didn't feel right...

I can, but it is piecemeal (just sold 400 to a moving company). Thought I'd give someone here an opportunity to take it before selling them all off.

Help Us Build a School in Ethiopia

    MARKETPLACE
Hi everyone, First, thanks to everyone who donated. It means a ton to me that so many people came out in support of what I was trying to do. Some issues came to light that caused me to question the legitimacy of what my former driver was trying to do. After further research, I lost trust that...

    Take my Business for Free!

    MARKETPLACE
Some of you may know that I took an INE and created www.ValueCrates.com We were featured on MSNBC, invited to audition for Shark Tank, and have a number of partnership agreements with large property management companies. Unfortunately, a number of circumstances have led to be being unable to...

Where I have been this time... and why I'm famous at Wells Fargo

    GOLD! MINDSET
I've worked directly for decision-makers at the highest levels in DC for 10 years...Kak's observations are spot on. Looking forward to the rest of the story! PS: lobbying can almost never supplant strong political currents. Look at the recent veto override...Saudis spent over $4m on lobbying...

Patience is grossly underestimated. Are you playing the long game?

    MINDSET
Agreed with all. It's especially acute when you have a wife and kids. I thought we could survive for a while, but to do so would have required everything going right. Normally I'm pragmatic and fairly risk averse, but I let my emotions get the best of me. It was a lesson in emotional vs...

Patience is grossly underestimated. Are you playing the long game?

    MINDSET
I had to readjust and play for the long game. I expected to throw a Hail Mary game winning touchdown after quitting my day job and going at my business full time. Immediately after quitting, a lot of the cards in my house of cards fell, and I was left scrambling. I made it work for a few...

I recorded my Cold Calls - Here's the video

    MARKETING
Tip: Do everything you can to get the first name of the person you're trying to reach before calling (e.g. look on Linkedin, their website, etc). Whenever I've done cold calling, saying "Hi, can I talk to Jim" has worked 90%+ of the time (as opposed to "Hi, I'm looking for someone in marketing...")

Why aren't advertising companies ad rates public?

    OFF-TOPIC
They often are when the ROI is obvious. In this case, they have to persuade you that the ad rates are worth it. It's usually a sure sign that they aren't worth it.

Help Us Build a School in Ethiopia

    MARKETPLACE
As some of you know, I took an INE from the forum and built it into a small but growing business (www.ValueCrates.com). We recently hired a delivery driver (Lindsey), who inspired us to think more broadly about the impact we could have. In addition to working for us, he is also a minister both...

Question on "Awaken the Giant Within" - Tony Robbins

    BOOKS
I think there is another side to this conversation - grinding but haven't hit it big yet. Being a little vulnerable-as I quit my day job and have been doing a lot of manual labor in my non-tech startup (with the commensurate lack of investor interest, relatively slow growth, etc.), I've had...

What makes this ad good (or bad)?

    MARKETING
I like ads that get the customer to say "yes" to a problem, then offer a solution plus benefits For instance: Do you have a Plumbing EMERGENCY? Leaking (or gushing!) pipe? Clogged Toilet? Flooded Basement? Put my 15 years of experience to work for you. You problem will be solved quickly and...
