How do I buy homes from Government in this market?

    REAL ESTATE
No. I was looking at a business property repossessed from the IRS in Corpus Christi a while back, and almost made a bid, but decided against it. But that was it. Most of my government purchases were directly thru HUD. Great deals if you are patient and know when and where to look. But like...

When will residential real estate market pick/ steady up?

    REAL ESTATE
While there are a slew of variables involved, perhaps one of the bigger ones, IMO, would be unemployment. Not only does this directly effect people out of work, but even people who are employed may think twice before making such a huge purchase (knowing they may be a step or two away from being...

General Information Government Homes For Sale Department of the Treasury Be forewarned, though, that working with the government can be excruciatingly painful. Expect a lot of "hurry up and wait" along the way.

    Is this legal?

Back in the late-1990's, I created a web site for my FIL's tile setting business. About a year or two later, my MIL said she got a phone call from someone saying they saw a site from a business across the country who had the same exact content (just the company name, phone, etc., were...

Money is in religion and politics as well, but we know how that can sometimes go off the deep end. Hence my reply. :smxF:

My Rant: Tiger Wood's wife getting $750M from divorce..

    HOT!
While I agree in many respects to what you have said, I think there are numerous sub-issues with this whole thing, which, summarily, opens numerous other cans of worms. Unfortunately, this may not be the place to discuss/debate/etc. any of them. As I have been accustomed to thinking (thanks to...

But you had to have signed a contract prior to April 30th. This was still the criteria for the bill that would have extended it to Sep 30th (I believe).

    Confessions of a Disney dad . . .

    FUNNY
It is fast ... much too fast. It seems as a child the time goes by too slow and as an adult it goes by too fast. BTW, someone told me this when my daughter was born and I'll never forget it: For the first few years you teach them to walk and talk, and for the rest of your life, you try to...

    Confessions of a Disney dad . . .

    FUNNY
I'm enjoying every minute of being a Dad, and enjoy every minute of times like that. I've seen just about every animated Disney movie out on DVD at least 15 times, and like you, the reverse button is just as worn as the play button. No greater joy in life than seeing a smile on a child's face...

Time to go long on BP??

    INVESTING
I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to oil stocks, but I would think putting some skin on the OTHER oil companies (e.g., Shell) that have dropped a lot may be something to consider. That is, unless people are skiddish about some pending/future legislation that will curtail their bottom line.

To add to tchandy's remarks about hiring out ... It can not only eat away at your time, but you will be amazed at how quickly someone who is skilled at particular job can complete it vs. yourself. To give you an example, I had a tenant leave one of my rentals in less than desirable shape. It...

For minor cosmetic stuff, hire a handyman service or a company who specializes in the service (i.e., carpet cleaning, maid, lawn/landscaping). For major stuff, hire a contractor, plumber, electrician, etc. (preferably thru a reputable company). It really is that simple - don't make it...
