We are all KINGS!!! (Reclaiming Masculinity in the Modern Day)

    HOT! PEOPLE
For what it's worth, I think we've reached the peak (or near-peak) of male-bashing. As a gen-Xer, I was raised to be a feminist, and embraced that ideology, back when I thought it meant seeking compromises and equal opportunity for both genders. For example, when my husband and I had our child...

We are all KINGS!!! (Reclaiming Masculinity in the Modern Day)

    HOT! PEOPLE
Yup. But I have a husband, brothers, and a son, and it angers me to see them disparaged due to their gender. Plus, IMO, the current imbalance isn't good for anyone, not even women for too many reasons to count. A related thought: The pendulum has swung so far anti-male that we're almost at risk...

We are all KINGS!!! (Reclaiming Masculinity in the Modern Day)

    HOT! PEOPLE
For at least 20 years, probably more, men have been undervalued, ridiculed, and seriously taken for granted in just about every way. Today, they're the only people you can mock with impunity, stereotype, and blame for all the world's ills without recognizing the incredible contributions they've...

New Forum! New Book! (Coming Jan 10th, 2pm)

I just switched mine to the smaller screen, too, and I like that even better! I know it's especially for smaller screens, but I think it's also a nice benefit for those of us with poor eyesight who use larger text sizes on our computers. Either way, the new design is really nice.

    GOLD!
Excellent insight and motivation! Thanks for that! While it's not something I can do tomorrow or anything (due to my writing speed, etc.), it's definitely something to add to my to-do list. I'll keep you posted!

That's a wonderful suggestion, and I definitely see the wisdom in it. Alas, it's not quite an option for me because of the way my books are interconnected with cliffhangers and such. But if I wrote standalones, this would probably be the ideal solution. I appreciate the wisdom though! Even if I...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
I can definitely see that logic, and can't wait to hear how it goes! One thing I DO need to do is run a campaign for mailing list signups. Aside from the dreaded time-crunch, one thing that's been stopping me is I don't have a freebie to offer, and don't want to attract freebie-seekers to my...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Great question! Yup! I definitely could. I experimented with that early on, when I was just starting Facebook ads. Unfortunately, the click rates of these ads were a ton lower than when I was featuring an Amazon link. Basically, it seems people are comfortable clicking on a link that says...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Just a brief progress update, along with a warning for Facebook advertisers... (Note Scary Red Text for emphasis.) The Good: Sales have been pretty decent for my last book. While not an Amazon top 100 seller or anything, it's making steady income, boosting the sales of prior books, and netting...

My family is F*cked. Just... F*cked.

    HOT! PEOPLE
Wow, any parent would be proud and fortunate to have you as a kid. You're responsible, caring, and mature beyond your years. Seriously impressive. That being said... You are not helping them as much as you think. You're enabling them. Regardless of what you do (or don't do), they will hit...

Has anyone on this forum become a millionaire from reading TMF?

    HOT!
One terrific thing about the book is that it helps you rule out ideas that are unlikely to make you a millionaire. Sometimes, I think that's half the battle. Let's say you're smart and ambitious and willing to work hard. If you're working on the wrong things, you might be wasting your time. But...

Who else than Bill Clinton can earn more than $50 million in speaking fees?

I should add that I'm not trying to derail the thread. I'm only saying that if the goal is to be motivational speaker, it might be better to look for role models who can draw large audiences or command generous speaking fees unrelated to government activity.

Who else than Bill Clinton can earn more than $50 million in speaking fees?

Here's an article that explains some of the dynamics of these speeches and how they tie into government activity. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3380609/Bill-Clinton-s-speaking-fees-draw-new-attention-line-actions-wife-s-State-Department-took-2009-2013.html Now, I realize this is a...

Who else than Bill Clinton can earn more than $50 million in speaking fees?

His fees were greatly inflated on the expectation that he, as the spouse of the future president, would be wielding powerful influence that could greatly help those businesses or foreign countries that were paying him to speak. In short, it wasn't the speeches that were so highly valued, but...

What are the chances student loans get wiped out?

    HOT!
Interesting insight. What often strikes me, though, about people pursuing this type of degree is how seldom they're the ones actually paying for it. Too often, others are footing the bill -- mommy, daddy, and/or the government/taxpayers. Is it just me, or does this sounds like a pompous excuse...

What are the chances student loans get wiped out?

    HOT!
Good point, with one qualifier. A journalism degree actually has some practical uses. It teaches writing skills, public relations, communication, etc. Lots of those skills come in handy, especially these days, when far too many people can barely put together a decent paragraph. Alas, it's the...

I've finally found "perfect time" to post my intro

Chickenhawk knows all... Heh! Actually, it was the term "lead-magnet" that made me think the focus was non-fiction, but I wasn't 100% sure. :)

Great intro, and thank you for your kind words about my thread! Funny, my last job had a whole lot of red tape, too. (Ugh!) It's great to see how you're finding the time to work on your Fastlane ventures at every opportunity. I wasn't sure, but it sounds like you're writing non-fiction? I...
