[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Thanks so much for the congrats and for the kind words! It's always nice to hear that someone has gotten something out of this thread. I almost can't believe how long this thread is by now. Time flies! Also, as long as I'm posting...a quick status update: Except for one scene that I'm planning...

    Pity for Society

    OFF-TOPIC
This is all true. In fact, one guy, hunkering down in a pub while it's literally under assault by terrorists, was scolded by a fellow countryman for simply saying disparaging things about his attackers. This sissy-a$$ PC-scolding occurred DURING the attack. So, rather than fighting, oh, i dunno...

    Pity for Society

    OFF-TOPIC
I see your point. But actually, much of this has been debunked. Neighbors did try to help, and multiple calls to the police were ignored until it was too late. The story was mostly made up by the Police Commissioner to distract people from the department's own sorry response to violent crime...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Quick Status Update: I ran into a problem with my current book, and I had to tear it apart and put it back together. Now, it's Frankenbook! And it's still not done. (I'm literally writing the last two chapters though.) In happier news, I've saved some of the parts of THIS book for the NEXT book...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
My list is stuck under 4,500 subscribers, but mostly that's because I'm not advertising at the moment and haven't released anything new in months. Now that I have a few books out, I've been seriously considering the permafree model, both as a lead-in to a funnel, and to work on building...

    Appliance Flipping

    HOT!
From what I understand, they can make them because they don't produce as many compared to the bigger names. (Not sure how this works, just relaying what I was told.) You're correct that searching for a refurbished one would've saved money short-term. But long-term, I wanted something with zero...

    Appliance Flipping

    HOT!
Mostly, it's a washing machine that isn't high-efficiency, so it uses the same amount of water that those older machines did. As a result, the clothes get cleaner, and the loads don't take nearly as long. If you read the reviews for this, you'll get a sense of why people are willing to spend...

    Appliance Flipping

    HOT!
Some potential marketing insight...Maybe the Washing Machines Aren't USED so much as VINTAGE I HATE the new washing machines. Hate them. The "energy efficient models" take forever to wash a single load of clothes, which come out only half clean. When I moved into a new house, I paid double the...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Embarrassingly, I've found nearly no correlation. When writing a book, I almost always waffle between thinking it's absolutely wonderful or it's absolute crap. Like my current book, I'm at the phase where I'm convinced it's a steaming pile. (I HATE that phase.) But then, when I read the whole...

UNSCRIPTED: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Entrepreneurship

Oh wow, I can't wait to read this! I knew the release was coming up, but I didn't realize it was this close. You know, I think I read and/or listened to the Millionaire Fastlane at least five or six times? I have it on Kindle and on audiobook, and maybe even a paperback, too. It was seriously...

[PROGRESS THREAD] ChickenHawk's Self-Published Fiction EBooks

    GOLD!
Awwww!!! Thanks for your kind words about this thread! Sorry I took so long to respond. I've been hunkering down writing so I've been quite neglectful of this thread lately, but I really do appreciate it. Thanks so much for asking! I'm drafting the final few chapters of my current novel, and it...

    HOT! PEOPLE
Glad to see this reopened! A quick point of clarification though, I believe the actual thread-starter was a guy, even though my plea to stop male-bashing kind of overtook the thread. (I just didn't want to take undeserved credit for the original post.) :)

    Writing my first book

    EXECUTION
First off, congrats on your progress so far. I love your enthusiasm! About pricing, you could always price it low (like 99 cents or $2.99), and then enroll it in Amazon's Kindle Unlimited (KU) program. If your book is in Kindle Unlimited, you get a certain number of days (maybe 5?) where you can...

    HOT! PEOPLE
Ah, but I never said that men alone have made contributions to our safety, etc. That was a qualifier you inserted not me, but I will agree that men have invented far more of these conveniences than women, and I will also agree that opportunity likely had had a lot to do with that. But that...

Sorry, but these statements appear to be a bit of a contradiction, at least to me.

Maybe. Maybe not. But why does it matter? It doesn't change the fact that men have contributed greatly to many wonderful things that we now take for granted, and that mocking, vilifying, or undervaluing people for their gender does everyone a disservice. As far as women being oppressed, very...

    Fastlane Parenting (Tips, Tactics...)

    GOLD! PEOPLE
Congrats on the new addition to your family! About helping a child have a Fastlane mentality, alas, I'm still a few years away from knowing how well we've done in that department, so I don't think I'm quite qualified to offer insight just yet. Some days, I feel like an absolute failure as a...

Thanks again, everyone, for all the wonderful insight and suggestions on offering an incentive for list sign-ups. I really appreciate it! Here's what I decided to do: Create a small ebook of bonus material, consisting of book trivia and deleted scenes. This is something designed to appeal...

True. But respect should go both ways. Also, before anyone can (or should) respect you, you need to be worthy of respect. Respect should't be a participation trophy, where everyone gets it just because they're a gal, or a guy for that matter.
