Lex DeVille's - I Deleted My Upwork Account...

    NOTABLE! SIDE HUSTLE
I just checked my Upwork account. I have worked (or am working) 25 contracts and some were repeat clients. So around twenty contracts from unique clients. I've submitted 135 proposals. I get rejected a lot. Sometimes the client wants to pay a lot less. Sometimes I get beat out by someone...

Lex DeVille's - I Deleted My Upwork Account...

    NOTABLE! SIDE HUSTLE
Ah, my bad. If you're using someone else's proposal as a template, it may still take some time to get right. You won't be using your voice, and if it's worded incorrectly it can sound odd. Might just be a matter of tweaking and tweaking till you find your style.

Lex DeVille's - I Deleted My Upwork Account...

    NOTABLE! SIDE HUSTLE
Copying proposals ain't gonna get you no where, man. In fact, it's probably one of the worst possible things you can do. I got a client today that told me I was the only person he was interviewing because my proposal was obviously tailored to his company. He said the rest were a bunch of...

Mindset, feels like I'm still action faking?

    MINDSET
Yea. I think one of the biggest things that causes us to action fake is that we're so unsure in what direction to go in. Make a website? Form an LLC? Write a business plan? Offer up my firstborn to the entrepreneurship gods (ie: M.J., Vigilante, and Andy)? So we think we have to do it all...

    Is todays education wrong??

    HOT!
Apologies for stepping off-topic (and possibly getting too personal), but is that close to the total of how much you pay? For some reason I had imagined that it cost much more, or that there were some sneaky government requirements. Kids are still years away for me, but if I do become a...

24 y/o Consultant Leaving the Corporate World to Pursue Entrepreneurship

    INTRO
Welcome! Normally, quitting to go full-time entrepreneur is quite hazardous when you're not directly working on something. Even MJ worked freelance to be able to pay rent, groceries, and... Oh. Nevermind then. That changes the playing field a bit.

My Moleskine Notebook is in the Trash

    HOT!
Dr. Invictus or: How I Learned to Start Writing and Love the Moleskin So, interestingly enough, I view my moleskin in the exact opposite way all of y’all look at yours. Looks like most people’s problems with the moleskin is that it’s too nice and they don’t want to ruin it. I get that...

My Moleskine Notebook is in the Trash

    HOT!
Hopefully I'll free up some time later to devote an entire post to this, cuz boy can I speak on moleskins and notebooks. But for now I'll reply to the G2 comment. G2's are my soulmate. I love them to absolute death. Never had one fail on me. They work so well. There's a few different models...

How does one monetize a free service?

A personal experience event: When my friend and I were building our PC, we stumbled upon a graphics card for quite a good deal. The seller was on eBay had a number of them. Apparently, he was trying to build gaming rigs for people and sell them, but he couldn't find a market for it. It seemed...

5+ Months Project Failed Miserably.. Case Study.. What's Next?

    HOT!
This is a really good point. It could be a market that is barely being targeted. When there's so many other competitors you may have better luck either targeting a super-specific audience or an underserved one. In regards to the former, looks like Plazmatic is targeting stoners (also violating...

    This Made Me So Mad

    HOT!
My high school was not terribly full of academic overachievers. A few of us secured full-ride scholarships (pro-tip: You’ll still have to pay some) but the rest did not have such a luxury. Now. Living in a blue-collar area, you see a lot of people earn a respectable living with the sweat of...

    What the hell is "consulting"?

    What the hell is "consulting"?

You're right. They could be considered a consultant. Except it's very unlikely anyone would hire them. What about Bill Gates or Elon Musk? How much would their advice be worth? Of course, most business owners would not be able to afford their advice. So they would opt for someone who is more...
