Effective Business Writing: How to Write Clearly

It can also be hard to discern what the lesson is if the whole book is written like a long story. Pair that with the fact that few people read (non-fiction) books cover to cover and you'll see why you might be shooting yourself in the foot by packaging your teachings into one big story.

Effective Business Writing: How to Write Clearly

Thanks for taking the time to write that post. Lots of great ideas in there. On stories in writing. Try not to go overboard with it. Good examples of usage of stories in non-fiction: Gladwell (Blink, Tipping Point), Newport (Deep Work). Bad examples: Sharma (The 5 AM Club)

How to THRIVE on Google instead of damning it everyday

    MARKETING
I think SEO in general is misunderstood. You get pretty far with A) Common sense B) Walking a mile in your visitors' shoes Why is a fast site important? Why is good UX important? Why are keyword clusters, silos, important? Why are backlinks important? Better to figure out why Google's doing...

Who do you follow for marketing advice?

    HOT! MARKETING
There's a great gilded thread on this forum that talks about this. Can't find it right now. Everyone can help in the beginning but as you keep progressing fewer people will be able to relate (and help).

Who do you follow for marketing advice?

    HOT! MARKETING
More than I can remember. They all go to the promo section in Gmail anyway so I don't mind the extra emails. Went through my inbox and these are the names I found (mostly email copywriters): Email marketers/copywriters - Chris Orzechowski - Robert Allen - Ben Settle - Daniel Throssell - John...

Who do you follow for marketing advice?

I used to read a ton of copywriting & marketing books. Stopped when they all started sounding the same. Nowadays I'm subscribed to all kinds of newsletters. Mostly for inspiration.

    How to learn Branding?

    MARKETING
I'm struggling to formulate a valuable answer without knowing more about the product and the niche. (Not that I want to know that or that you should share it on a public forum) @Lex DeVille's thread is great. MJ's book suggestion looks interesting. If thought leadership is relevant for you...

    E-commerce: $100k in one hour

    NOTABLE! HOT! MARKETING
There's another great tip in Jason's post that cannot be emphasized enough. Don't just send one email. Why? Because the average office worker sends and receives 121 business emails each day (source) Meaning: It's incredibly easy for your email to be lost in the noise. And! The whole idea of...

Building an audience on twitter, is it worth it?

Negative influence. Misleading or oversimplified advice. Faking action x1000. I guess you could say the above for most social media though. :)

The way I see it, how is boring. It's technical. It's not really interesting until you've already decided to do it. The why, what, and the results are what people like to read about. To be inspired and motivated. Which is what most of social media is anyway. P.S. You know my view on this...

Humble Hustle & Scaling My Agency - Progress Thread

    GOLD!
Love this!! Funnily enough, this is exactly what I've learned to do in the email marketing space. "Never be the one to end the interaction." There's always something else you can offer, some additional bonus they might be interested in... Same mindset applied in a completely different field. :)

    Figuring Out Twitter

    HOT! EXECUTION
I've been passively trying to grow my Twitter account as well (which sends people to my newsletter, etc.). Half the time I just want to delete the whole thing and block the site. There are some good accounts that post valuable stuff. But 95 % of them just copy-paste vague entrepreneurship...
