    What happened in 1971?

    HOT!
Just want to jump in and say Bob Murphy is the man. The P.I.G. to Capitalism put so many pieces together for me back in the day and paved the way for reading more serious economics and libertarian works. He also introduced me to whole life policies, a system that's been working great for me...

Why do so many programmer's settle for jobs when they're capable of so much more?

I'm an employed programmer, as a contractor of course, not as a regular employee. I've discovered that it's more effective for me to hire other programmers to work for me, while I get paid to work for someone else. I want to work ON my business, not IN my business. My technical ability is a...

    Philosophy as a business

Tim got started drop shipping supplements. I would not start a business based around philosophy. Do something productive instead. If you're solution to life is really effective at solving people's most core issues, then you are better off just giving it away for free, to those who can...

    Recommendations for Learning Accounting Basics

I liked the book Financial Intelligence for Entrepreneurs: What You Really Need to Know About the Numbers I'm not an accountant or a finance pro, so I can't really say what information by inaccurate or missing, but for me it's a pretty good book.

    I paid my mentor £10,000

    LANDFILL
10 day Vipassana courses. Free of charge, just costs 10 days of your life. 15 years (so far) in a 12 step fellowship. Also free, if you don't count the price I paid to get there.

Looking for feedback on workbook cover

Looks better. Design #3 looks good, but kind of flimsy. I like the strong feel of the black. Either way, seems like you're on track. The layout of #3 is probably the best.

    University has killed my vision

@VicFountain you started programming as a kid and you say you were spending all day programming on your own. You're probably a "real" programmer, even if you suck because of inexperience, you're likely miles ahead of everyone who just learns programming in school to get a job. Just speaking...

    University has killed my vision

You do not need a degree to get a job programming. If you're an autodidact and a polymath, then you might but belong in school. Maybe if you want a job that really does require accreditation... but software is not one of those fields. You'd be better off spending four years contributing to high...

Looking for feedback on workbook cover

Images... A seed sprouting? Could be an illustration or macro photography. Light breaking through clouds (ugh) Probably something simpler to look at and without a real person. Are you familiar with how romantic comedies all have the same basic movie poster, and buddy comedies and other types...

Looking for feedback on workbook cover

I'd also use more of a margin, i.e. the author name is all the way to the edge is the image, it should have more space between the text and the edge. You use the word "personal" twice in the subheading, it is a little awkward. Maybe: "A personal development program for growth and stability"...

Looking for feedback on workbook cover

The text is just floating on top of the image and is not super easy to read. I'd frame the text, maybe use a black rectangle and then apply transparency until it looks good with the photo.

    Having Children...Pros and Cons?

    HOT! PEOPLE
Having a wife or fiance is also extremely difficult, maybe more difficult than having a kid... I can't imagine going through all of the struggle of having a wife and then NOT having kids. Also, yes, anyone can have kids (kind of), but it works both ways, anyone can remain childless...

    Having Children...Pros and Cons?

    HOT! PEOPLE
Do it now. Childbirth is terrifying and there's no guarantee you will just have a child because you want one, so better if you do it now, it might not happen on your timeline. Not trying to spread fear, but my personal experience with this is extremely real and traumatic, PM me if you want the...

2 ideas that I'm looking for partners for

    IDEA
The "mule" idea is pretty common where I live: is difficult and expensive to get some things here, shipping plus taxes sucks, and there are plenty of people traveling frequently to North America and back. Most people here do it through friends. Maybe you pay the cost of a checked bag. Some...

    Investing in watches, anyone?

    INVESTING
LOL, no really fair to compare watches to Beanie Babies. Watches are more like cars or art... they can be a legitimate store of value if you know what you're doing, and like OP said, if you pick the right one they can multiply in value.

    CRYPTO INVESTING
hah, also came here to say LOL. Great work @ParttimeHustler, I had to click. I don't anything about physical products, but please start a progress thread once you have an idea you're committed too, I'd love to follow along and learn.

    Investing in watches, anyone?

    INVESTING
Clicked through to your website and in your header photo are two watches I've already worn today, the Casio World Time I wore surfing this morning and the Speedmaster, which I'm wearing right now... on a NATO flag strap, but I literally had it on that same black leather NATO as in your photo for...

Is there a market for inventing languages?

I've actually considered this kind of thing because I have tons of personal notes and I've wanted to protect them da Vinci-style. Especially my handwritten notes. At one point I was learning shorthand for this purpose. The solution for me eventually to just stop caring about it. If someone...
