Hello from Denver - self publishing success

    GOLD!
Just thought I'll add my 2c as I do cover design regularly for my own books and others. The 1.6 ratio in the official docs is awkward to say the least, and pretty much only used by self-pubbers. The big publishers stick to their regular proportions, haven't seen many that would re-do a cover to...

    New project - ToDo Rewards

    WEB/DIGITAL
Good luck with your idea :) Sounds a bit like "Epic Win" - it's an iphone app, that is a "gamified" todo list, with leveling up, loot and experience points for tasks etc. Not exactly the same thing, but I guess same direction :)

    Taking a site from 50 people a day to 10,000 a day - in 1 year

Don't worry too much, "dieting traffic" often sinks on Fridays (+weekends), plus the Royal Wedding probably shares some of your target audience ;)

    Taking a site from 50 people a day to 10,000 a day - in 1 year

You're probably right about that, though I think I'm to honest for my own good. Would find it hard to promote/sell things I don't believe in myself or haven't tried myself or at least seen results from a friend or something ;) Thinking of scaling up though, rather than a different diet will try...

17-year-old Trying To Go On The Fastlane!

Great to see you starting straight away :) Do you have a specific app in mind? I always found it easier to learn something new when you have a concrete project in mind rather than just sticking to "hello world" tutorials :) Good luck with the exams!

    Taking a site from 50 people a day to 10,000 a day - in 1 year

I guess I'm kind of warming them up now while I get my own ebook written ;) Actually most of my searches are the diet name (exact phrase 40%), diet name + recipes, and similar followed by long tail for individual recipes. That said searches make up 63.8% (today's stat) of my traffic source...

Eventually it helps if you have some knowledge of the above, but you can start with ready-made templates (plenty of free ones available). Also plenty of plugins out there that would pretty much cover most of what you would like to do with your site.

17-year-old Trying To Go On The Fastlane!

Doesn't matter if something is available for free. In that sense you could argue that almost anything is available for "free" at a library so why bother, etc. It's about added value, if you add enough to the free content, or deliver it in a more convenient form there are people who are willing...

    Taking a site from 50 people a day to 10,000 a day - in 1 year

I've sent you a PM. Do have a list, but only started sending out stuff to it recently, at the moment it serves more as an update newsletter to get people to come back to the site, not really selling anything. It's not quite "how to lose weight fast", so not all traffic is buyers. Tried...

17-year-old Trying To Go On The Fastlane!

1-3h on homework? It better be worth doing. Some people might be appalled by this, but unless your career (say a surgeon, for example) requires good grades, than don't overdo it when not needed. Personally from highschool onwards I only did the homework that was actually checked and otherwise...

17-year-old Trying To Go On The Fastlane!

How many hours does your school take up? In most cases that should be still less then a full time job... so you should have plenty of time in afternoons and evening. Boring lectures? I used to just read books under the table (no ipads and smartphones back then ;)), admittedly it was novels...

    Taking a site from 50 people a day to 10,000 a day - in 1 year

I'm in the dieting nieche (quite specialized) as well and about 5k visits per day makes me £50+ in adsense, without it being pushed too hard on my visitors. If you avoid adsense is it your own product you're selling or something else? Looking to diversify my income streams too :) Curious...

    I've Read The Millionaire Fastlane!

    GOLD! HOT!
I recently found the book thanks to an interview on Pat's podcast and loved it. Without that introduction I probably would have dismissed it because of the title, as a "yet another get rich fast" book with loads of fluff and none (or very little) useful info. However the book turned out to be...

    Hello from the UK

Hello everyone :) So far I have been snooping around the forum for a couple of weeks since I discovered it after reading MJ's book. Figured it's probably time to introduce myself before I start posting :) At the moment I'm stuck in between the slowlane and the fastlane - working as a web...
