    I think an initial report that outlines all competitors followed by a subscription service where the customer will be notified whenever a new competitor is identified would be the best approach (assuming that it's all automated).

    It's one of the best approaches in my opinion. Make a free app and offer additional features at a cost for those who want them. Have you figured out how you are going to get people to use it? Surely that comes first?
