Looking for an idea for an iPhone app

    IDEA
That's a good start. I'd definitely recommend a course or similar as well. It will get you to the point where you should be able to pick up freelance gigs. What's your current job situation? Is there any opportunity to pitch your current employer on a mobile app?

Huge Security Alert: LastPass Suffers Major Data Breach - Here's What You Need to Know to Protect Yourself!

    HOT! CRYPTO PEOPLE
All security is mitigation. Nothing is 100% secure, so you do your best and have a backup plan for when/if it falls apart. You're right in that the best password is one that doesn't actually exist, and this is along the lines of what hardware 2FA keys and Apple's new Passkey stuff does. But I'm...

Have faith. The concepts will come with practice. Have you done any courses, books, bootcamps, anything like that?

Hi! I live for threads like this! If you're just looking for something to put on a resume, it can be almost anything. If you want to show potential employers your coding skills, building something and then putting it on GitHub is a solid way to do that. Also, consider contributing to open...

Other password managers don't have the same kind of vulnerabilities that LastPass had. I use 1password, and they have a couple of followup posts on their blog about it: https://blog.1password.com/how-1password-protects-your-data/ https://blog.1password.com/not-in-a-million-years/

    Trash Bin Cleaning Business

    IDEA
Personally? I wouldn't have a photo of equipment I don't actually have. Feels like lying to me. However, images of sparkling clean trash bins; before-and-after shots; photos of you standing in front of like 20 cleaned bins, decked out in waders, firing a hose into the air...

Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency Discussion (And Predictions)

    HOT! CRYPTO CHAT
Because they didn't want crypto, they wanted the crypto industry. Since its a pension fund, they may have had rules that wouldn't let them "invest" directly in crypto, so they instead went into a crypto company. Basically, they saw Canadian rainbow dollars raining down from the skies and didn't...

    Trash Bin Cleaning Business

    IDEA
Sure, absolutely. Still feels like you could use the $200 pressure washer to prove the need before throwing 20 grand, minimum, at it. Why scale it before you even prove it's a real opportunity?

    Trash Bin Cleaning Business

    IDEA
I never understood the pricy equipment for this gig. Isn't this something that could be started with a $200 pressure washer and a bottle of bleach from Home Depot?

I wouldn’t put a lot of faith in anything DHH says. The guy absolutely believes his own hype. Dude wrote a whole book about how learning from failure is a waste of time; you learn more from success, so just be successful the first time and learn from that! Easy, right? Nonsense advice from a guy...

One of the things that’s tough for me sometimes is remembering, despite what opposing sides keeps saying, that most politicians aren’t actually evil. They really think they’re doing the right thing.

It’s not the people making the content, it’s all the skeevy pervs in Epstein’s book that are watching that have all the stuff worth stealing. That said, I read the Constitution twice just to make sure, but it doesn’t say anywhere that the federal government has the authority to ban thot apps…

To me, DRM means "they" can steal it back from me whenever they want. So, I try to keep non-DRM versions of things that I want to make sure I have access to forever. In the case of books, I'm happy to buy kindle/audible books, but for books I want to be sure I have access to, I buy a paper copy.

    SLOWLANE PEOPLE QUESTION
One of the big upsides to college is it can give you a breadth of new experiences in a fairly secure environment. And breadth of experience is where you find your niches, your skills, and your market needs. Don't go into debt to do it though. Community colleges (in the US anyway) are...
