Anyone have a file/mail server in their office?

Google Apps seems good for general usage but we work with very large files ranging from photos, to 3d models and large documents so I don't think our internet speed is up to the task of uploading and downloading such file sizes. Also when we receive contracts and other controlled documents the...

Anyone have a file/mail server in their office?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . I am in the process of sourcing a server system for my fathers office for between 5-10 employees to centralise file storage and reduce the occurrence of lost files and duplications. It must also serve as a mail server that receives and stores email centrally and...

    Architecture - Dream houses....

    OFF-TOPIC
I know with an 80ft boat berth, 130ft swimming pool and 13000 sqft of floor space it sure is something else. The expected price range is very fitting too at AU$12-16m it is definitely a longer term goal for a man of my means lol. Airlie Beach mansion to fetch $12-$16 million | Townsville...

    Canada's Secretive Billionaire Revealed

    EXECUTION
I don't get the attraction with forbes lists and these kinds of stories on billionaires. I like when I see someones success story and they outline their beginnings and troubles, their creative thinking that solved problems. Many of the stories on this forum are much higher quality, these kind of...

    manufacturing question

Hi Brian, To produce a couple custom parts out of any common material $90 per part seems reasonable as they must charge for the time spent drawing and creating a process to make your part. If you must pay $90 for a prototype that isn't too bad of a price in reality because if you decide to go...

The next billionaire challenge: China's wealthiest

Why on earth would Chinese business people want to commit to give away half their wealth right now? They are in a position where they have the opportunity to increase their wealth many times over in coming years. They are in charge of huge corporations driving China's incredible growth and...

Building a Multi-Million Dollar Business with No Funding

    WEB/DIGITAL
Bump. This is a smart guy, clearly he didn't just luck into his wealth he earned it the hard way through innovative thinking: the only thing that I find a bit silly is that he has a business profiting $60k/month and is still in school full time 'picking the easiest classes'. Seems like...

Paypal is holding over $700,000 from the Minecraft developer

    WEB/DIGITAL
I feel sorry for anyone in a particular business that requires them to use paypal, I don't understand why people don't simply use their credit cards to receive and make payments so they can avoid paypal and it's terrible service all together. Does anyone know how much server costs would be to...

New Product: Sandwich lasts a year

I agree I would much rather have a freshly prepared meal for my midday lunch break but I think this invention will be targeted towards military, emergency response and other commercial use. For example 8 months ago there were 10m in Haiti in chaos after the earthquake and they were fortunate...

How can we as fastlaners capatlize thread.

    IDEA
Great point, at the moment in Australia a 3 bedroom home in a decent suburb a reasonable distance away from a city generally will cost $450-600k (or about 9-12x average wage). Land and homes are very expensive here so you have quite a few baby boomers who bought a home decades ago when they were...

6 year old girl sells lemonade to pay for chemotherapy

Good solution. Would you care to provide a source which backs up these statements that inheritances are usually wasted and that children who inherit holdings in a company rely on others to run it for them? Raising your children with an entrepreneurial spirit, teaching them skills required to...

6 year old girl sells lemonade to pay for chemotherapy

Darkside I like your idea for creating a service to facilitate donations to medical causes, I can see one problem there however there would undoubtably be more people asking for money then there would be giving money so how would you solve this problem? What I don't like however is how you've...

    Self Defense Courses

    HOT!
I guess the obvious would be some sort of hidden pit to fall into or animal traps but it can be simple as something like a trip wire which activates high powered floodlights and an audible alarm.

    Self restraint...

    OFF-TOPIC
I love German drivers, whenever I see videos on the autobahn I am amazed how they are so disciplined in pulling to the right lane when they are not overtaking. As a result their unlimited sections of autobahn are as safe as any other road in nations which are limited to a dozy 60-70mph. If this...

    Self Defense Courses

    HOT!
Like ^eagle^ said your best bet is to run or to avoid a confrontation in any way you can. I don't have any advice with regards to what is a good style to train in for self defense but speaking as an Australian and being subject to the most strict gun control laws in the world I urge any...

Billionaire donars courtesy of Buffett and Gates

How do you measure how well money is spent? There is no objective way of measuring how money is spent only subjective measures. If these billionaires feel their money will go to a good cause then that is money well spent in their view, who cares what anyone else things? You might think these are...

How can we as fastlaners capatlize thread.

    IDEA
Great idea, at $30/month plus a set fee to cover the cost of fencing, irrigation, planting, harvesting, organic pest control and other fees you'd incur in providing this service it sounds like you're onto a winner. If managed well it'd probably be cheaper than what people pay when they buy fresh...

.CO domains now available - is it better than .com?

    WEB/DIGITAL
That is true but if you incorporate the company name into the TLD then there is nothing the company can do to stop you. For example a domain squatter registered the domain qant.as (i.e. qant registered on the TLD of American Samoa .as) and made headlines when he claimed he had taken huge bids...
