    Recommendations for Ecommerce Website Creation

    WEB/DIGITAL
I use Shopify. It's never let me down. It does have limitations if you have products with several variation options or other complexities. Although there is an app store for custom features, probably something for that. You can fully edit the html, css, and install your own customizations if...

How bad do you want it? Enough to go "all in?"

    GOLD! PEOPLE
Great thread! January 5th, 2009, I got on a plane in Louisville, KY during a winter storm. We transferred in Chicago, where it was like a blizzard. After some delays, we finally flew down to San Diego. When I walked out of the airport, I just knew I wanted to move there. Loved the area...

Illustration time-lapse for my card game startup

Sweet, my final freelance project was for a card game, they can be fun. Also, a good friend had a card game funded on kick starter super quick. Not sure about the detail$, but he seems happy with the outcome. Since you already have the graphics, you could also make a mobile game version one...

He did good! The subtle shading is tricky to do in Illustrator (compared to pixel painting) but it's a good looking style for games.

I've got a great new job; help!!

    EXECUTION
"There is no work/life balance for entrepreneurs." - Kevin O'Leary If you want it bad enough, you'll work nights and weekends, and the job will just be a bridge. I have an interview next week. A job is part of my fastlane plan (blasphemy!) and it's going to work. Although, I'm shooting for...

Overwhelmed with Apps, finally burned out...

    WEB/DIGITAL
You can piggyback onto a brand, if you can make a pitch and reach a win win agreement with that brand. The benefit of this is getting to piggyback onto their marketing efforts to their customer base. Or you can find something popular that doesn't have any really great games made for it yet...

In need of some inspiration? An oldie but a goodie...

    MINDSET
Just listened to full thing. Kinda sounds like law of attraction stuff at first, but goes on to say your rewards are directly correlated to the value you provide and the needs you meet. Also talks about focus, hard work, and process, but it's mainly just a good mindset talk. Thanks again for...

Pardon me while I see what this Rep button does... A great listen. And much needed, after months of labor on some things I do actually believe will work.

My strategy for all projects I'm working on, including games: Hook the product right into something popular, and watch it ride off into the sunset. Ideas are just passengers. They need something to ride, if you want them to travel. In other words, stop making games YOU think are cool...

Overwhelmed with Apps, finally burned out...

    WEB/DIGITAL
Definitely. Been doing digital art for years, there's a ridiculous abundance of talent out there. Someone can easily kick the graphics up a notch. Regarding marketing (free and paid) just remember it's a funnel. If you don't put anyone in the top, no one comes out the bottom.

A beautiful renderer, but even people on the Unreal forums will tell you, it's not as good for mobile (yet). It's amazing for pc/console, though. However, it can do mobile, you just have to manually disable a lot of the awesome effects. It produces a larger file size, too, which makes it hard...

Man who can remember 48 damn laws? Please, without referencing, someone recite them. Now, can you remember CENTS? There's "power" in simplicity.

You've shipped products, and deserve credit for that. Am I correct to assume Impossible Cubie was the first, Photon Runner second, Timber Chimp third? I ask because of the graphics. That's the weakness I see, but there is clear improvement from one game to the next. Although there are...

A market where want outsells need by a landslide.

    WEB/DIGITAL
There's a less obvious, but more important angle. For some: It's their hobby. If you were to look at almost any activity, it's probably a serious hobby for 3% or less of people doing it. Out of all the people who jog/run, probably 3% like to buy all sorts of gear for running. Out of all the...

A market where want outsells need by a landslide.

    WEB/DIGITAL
Last time I checked, out of the top grossing 150 apps in the iOS app store, 120 were games! Some simple indie games on there, too. Almost all were free to download, with in-app purchases - which generates revenue from just 3% of the players. That intrigues me because I'm a 2d/3d digital...

Don't expect instant results. Consider a daily hand written to do list (goals for day, week, month, and year). Been doing since the 1st, starting to see a boost. Actually feel a little different... If you're going to check off those tasks, you have no choice but to shut up and focus. Not...

People pay as quick as they can to solve problems.

Was just cruising down the road with the windows down on a sunny afternoon, when I heard a strange noise from the tire... Hopped out to see a big screw lodged in it. Called tire shop, drove there immediately, and pulled out my wallet. Fastest $25 I've ever spent. Why would I wait? So I can...

Fed up!!! Going back to a 9 to 5 life !

    HOT! MINDSET
You sound like an action taker to me. I've been there too, with a failure that boiled over all at once in a very stressful way. I've also been guilty of some slow boil failures. Never forget that failure is a key part of success. Best of luck adjusting course.
