For Those Who Have RUN Successful Affiliate Programs

    SPEEDWAY
Question for those who have RUN successful affiliate programs. If you could go back in time ... to when you first started your affiliate program ... and give yourself some advice ... what would you tell your former self ...? What (if anything) looking back ... might you have done differently...

My Firsthand Example of WHY You Should NEVER Do What You Love; and It’s Not What You Think.

    GOLD! MINDSET
Totally agree. I went to Atlanta back in May to promote my site at a big party I would (normally) be attending as a social guest. HATED IT. Felt like a cheesy salesman. Everyone is there having fun ... and I'm pushing memberships. Swore I would never market the site ... in person ... at...

How do I get rid of this constant anxiety?

    HOT! MINDSET
There is an expression: “He who worries about calamities suffers them twice over.” I think about that ... often. So I tell myself ... one day ... bad things may happen. I'll deal with them then. But I'll be DAMNED if I am going to let those things ruin my TODAY. Then there is Mark...

The 2015 Fastlane Meetup Pre-Plan Discussion (formerly B&P)

    MEETUPS
I think Vegas solves the rooms problem ... hands down. The town is overbuilt ... and a straight up bargain. As are flights in and out ... And the place has meeting space available up the wazoo. My two cents ...

Setting the Opening Price for Paid Advertising

    SPEEDWAY
Here's another idea ... Maybe ... instead of "selling" ads on my site ... I should join a couple dozen affiliate programs ... and run (my own) affiliate ads ...? THEN ... once I figure out how much my (own) affiliate ads are earning ... I could decide how much I would need to charge ... to...

Setting the Opening Price for Paid Advertising

    SPEEDWAY
I agree that (that type of service) is not something I would use on my site ... but it is still good to know what other options out there exist. Thinking out loud (again) ... I suppose another idea would be to decide how much I want to make off the advertising ... create artificial scarcity...

Setting the Opening Price for Paid Advertising

    SPEEDWAY
Just thinking out loud: Another idea is asking myself ... how much of my time will it take to accommodate the ad ... decide what my time is worth ... and start there. So if the least I would take is "X" dollars ... then I will charge everyone X dollars (for a pro rata share of the profile...

Setting the Opening Price for Paid Advertising

    SPEEDWAY
I run a membership site. Recently ... one of my members asked how much it would cost to run a banner ad. Now I run banner ads ... but up to now ... I have used them exclusively for FAQs (and things like that). I had not given serious thought to selling banner ads ... my business model is...

I'm stealing someone else's idea... Am i bad?

    IDEA
I think Felix Dennis says it best: “… it does not matter who gives birth to a particular idea … You cannot patent an idea. You can only patent your own method for implementing an idea. It is for this reason that so many people have become rich despite never having had a single great idea in...

I'm stealing someone else's idea... Am i bad?

    IDEA
I (personally) would not care whether my company was labelled "genuine" or a "rip off" ... all I care about is whether the company is profitable. That's it. Me (personally) ... I would not "copy" another business unless I was reasonably certain the market was under-served ... or I was...

I'm stealing someone else's idea... Am i bad?

    IDEA
I don't see anything weird and creepy about that at all. Think about how many sales and copy writing "gurus" are out there ... in the info marketing business. "Unique Selling Propositions" ... "Prospects vs. Suspects" ... "Calls to Action" ... "Can't Miss Headlines" ... etc. etc. etc. Think...

I'm stealing someone else's idea... Am i bad?

    IDEA
As long as you are not violating any laws in the market you are selling to (trademark, copyright or patent) ... go for it! Just because "someone was here first" does not mean they own a monopoly on the market. If what they are doing works ... people are going to notice ... and competition ...

Would you pay to get your article on a high traffic site?

    WEB/DIGITAL
That was pretty much sums up what I was thinking ... Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I think its a bad idea. Press releases are a great way to build credibility and promote brand awareness. But consider your audience. You are asking people on the Fastlane Forum. I don't think WE are...

Would you pay to get your article on a high traffic site?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Maybe ... I don't know. I guess it would have to be very (VERY) reasonable on price. Low hundreds (max). Otherwise ... I would be (far) more inclined to create the high-traffic site myself ... Yeah ... more work on the front end ... takes longer to create ... but in the big picture ... I'd...

Tasks for a VA to do?

    PEOPLE
Camtasia is a bit pricey ($299). You might want to take a look a Snag-it instead ($49). Much better than Jing (feature-wise) ... and far more reasonable than Camtasia. All three programs are made by the same developer (Techsmith) Snag-it is one of my all-time favorite programs. Love it.
