International Language Differences - Western Countries

Great post Walter...you are a well travelled man. I had a few good chuckles with your post as i can relate. Really?...so American women flare their nostrils when they speak, lol Must be some kind of metaphor : )

International Language Differences - Western Countries

It's kind of interesting as when i travel Europe they ask if i am American. The loudness and tone of our voices must be similar to Americans. I've just never noticed that other Australians have different accents but i can see you would be right about that.

Sorry Durete but i would definately feel offended if someone joked about a plane that went missing. Just too many loved ones on board to find that funny in any way

Wow Bila...How amazing is that...Same country, same language but foreign voice, lol Four languages is impressive. New Zealand is so close to Australia and you easily understand ? This is getting more complicated than i thought, lol

That's definately interesting Durete... I can relate to what you are saying as i recall for instance an Australian Entrepreneur, Richard Farleigh who joined Dragons Den in the UK who said he had to learn proper English as he offended too many people. I never got that part when i first heard...

Bad idea for the words as they are numerous...How about some phrases that don't often make sense..."Would you like a cup of coffee?" Yeah, no...meaning no. We use this a lot in Australia

International Language Differences - Western Countries

No offense taken Ninjakid : ) We all have our pre-conceptions of different cultures. Once when i was staying in a backpackers hostel in London, UK and a guy walks in and introduces himself from Dallas and one Ozzie guy says "Where's the big hat dude?" Kinda makes me cringe.

Odd coincidence indeed Walter ! I actually looked up the guy that i got the package for and he is selling x-mas clips which are for auto car parts. Will need to get that package back to him today. The reason i opened it was it had his business name which was almost identical to mine and the...

Great Grumpycat...That's very interesting to hear about your experience with the UK language. One that i get quite often from the UK is "i am afraid" I ask if my supplier if they have this particualr item in stock and they say..."We don't have that particular item at the moment i am afraid" What...
