How do you vet a supplier?

I know the company is legit, my main concern was that the sales rep I am talking to is who he says he is and the bank info he gave matches the company. The company is a reputable supplier and I've been selling their product (and I trust their quality, that's why I want to do business with them)...

How do you vet a supplier?

With shipping expense, it's a $6000 investment. It wouldn't break me but not small change for me either. They listed 1000 MOQ but I got them down to 600 units. They said after the first order, 50% upfront and 50% at ship date. The $368 audit seems like a reasonable option.

How do you vet a supplier?

I'm looking for advice here. I've been talking with a manufacturer through Globalsources. I was searching for them specifically because I wanted to source directly from them as I trust their product. The sales rep requests 100% payment upfront for the first order. They want a bank wire...

Just Imported My First Sea Shipment: Here's what that process looks like

    GOLD!
Great thread, thanks AgainstAllOdds! I am preparing to place my first purchase from a Chinese manufacturer and this info certainly helps.

I just found out a 'customer' is drop shipping my product

    HOT!
Good idea, but my product won't work for that. Many customers already think the price is high (but they still buy because there is no cheaper option). I wouldn't want to go to a lesser product. Mine is a good quality and the customer wouldn't understand the difference. So a cheaper product would...

I just found out a 'customer' is drop shipping my product

    HOT!
I appreciate the replies here. I am a little surprised that some here don't seem to be as competitive as I thought. I'm not sure why anyone would be content to let their product be sold for significantly more on a different platform, when they could be listed there as well.

I just found out a 'customer' is drop shipping my product

    HOT!
Well, I want as much of the market as I can get. I acknowledge that I was lazy and should have been listed on Amazon a while ago. I saw this coming. Good on him for seeing that opportunity, but it's not going to last. Once I'm listed on Amazon, he either won't get sales, or his profit margin...

I just found out a 'customer' is drop shipping my product

    HOT!
I've made it very clear to buyers on ebay that my product is superior (which is the truth), yet my competitor still gets a similar number of sales. It is annoying when there are days I have no sales and he gets a few. The drop shipping guy has done this 4 times now. I am setting up my Amazon...

I just found out a 'customer' is drop shipping my product

    HOT!
I agree, I'm not 'losing'. It's good to have the sales. I did read that he is going against Amazon's policy though, buy purchasing from another retail (who ships) to drop ship. It's really just a kick in the butt to get on Amazon like I've been telling myself.

That would work, but I have one competitor on ebay, so I need to stay around that price.

No. I don't have it branded, trademarked or copyrighted. I know..... it's not a big time product, haven't gone that far with it.

Yes that is true. But of course I want to squash this. Just curious about the best way to do that. I've been meaning to list on Amazon, so I guess this is going to force me now. The drop shipper is getting like 70% more $ for it.

On Amazon. He copied all the text and pics from my eBay listing. I know I should get my listing on Amazon. Is there anything else I can do? ....Updating this as I've just decided to get listed on Amazon and compete with him there.

Why Economists never mow their own lawn, and if you want to make money… neither should you.

    HOT!
There's a home cleaning business here that has the slogan "life's too short to clean your own home". Since we live with a guy who rents a room in our house and he is not very clean, I've thought about just hiring a maid. Once I get busy enough with my business I probably will. Mowing my lawn...

    Are you a “deadbeat”?

    INVESTING
I am. I never understood why people have such a hard time with cc debt. I guess it goes along with living paycheck to paycheck which I also can't imagine. Like Gary v says, 'eat shit' until you get on top of things.

    E-commerce policies (returns, eBay)

    EXECUTION
Is it standard practice to offer free returns? Are 'restocking fees' antiquated/will piss of customers? I get the feeling with online sales these days, you need to offer free returns as that's what customers expect. I sell on ebay, one product in particular. The problem is that in order for my...

    Warm Climate Vs Cold

    OFF-TOPIC
I moved from CT to Austin TX years ago for the warmer weather. I miss the CT summers but that's like 4 months tops. The other 7/8 months suck there. I really don't care for anything below 70 degrees. I rather sweat than be cold, especially when I'm biking. The key to not hating the hot weather...
