My employers new stance on cell phones.....its YOUR responsibility

For Android at least, a solution is coming - Android for Work. Basically it lets you "containerize" your work apps and data away from your own personal stuff, so you have multiple profiles/logins instead of just one. I haven't used this yet but I imagine it would make an android device more...

The product that will change how you think about MONEY - forever!

    EXECUTION
Going to start a new progress thread on the inside for my current project that arose out of this project...basically there was a much better idea hiding inside the idea I described here. Teaser: I have facebook integration working on another test app, that's coming next. Then... "It's not...

This guy used an insane get-rich-quick scheme to become a start-up millionaire in three weeks

He hasn't even made a dime yet. The company may never IPO, or it may crater after IPO before the lock-up period expires.

Those with a 9-5, how much work do you do? What do you do?

    HOT!
Sorry if I missed something really obvious but how do you have the summer off when your business is lawncare? The lawncare and landscaping people I know are busting their butts the whole summer and thru the fall, until everything is frozen or snow covered.

This guy used an insane get-rich-quick scheme to become a start-up millionaire in three weeks

The article said something about a $50/yr membership fee. From the competition and Business Week coverage it sounds like part of their business model is getting a lot of signups from people who don't or rarely use the service. Then again, if you consider that's in some ways similar to Amazon's...

Advice for entrepreneurs learning just enough code to build their MVP's?

    WEB/DIGITAL
There's also coursera. The programming courses are from undergraduate CS programs, so they are for career programmers. That may not be the best way to go for someone who just wants to crank something out as quickly as possible. On the other hand, they're free, and if you expect a lot more...

Advice for entrepreneurs learning just enough code to build their MVP's?

    WEB/DIGITAL
It could be! Nope, it is most definitely not linear at all. That's the problem with software, if it's 99% done but missing one crucial thing it's basically worthless. Many examples of software that has caused millions in damages because it failed due to a single wrong 1 or 0. If a house...

Advice for entrepreneurs learning just enough code to build their MVP's?

    WEB/DIGITAL
From the original post: "I have absolutely no knowledge of code" That tells me quite a bit about his background, and I already said if his product exactly fits into the model of a blog, forum, shopping cart etc. then yes he may be able to do it. As for the guys who can pick up coding in a...

This guy used an insane get-rich-quick scheme to become a start-up millionaire in three weeks

Not sure I understand your answer. I've seen many people advocate spending money on ads. I was wondering if anyone here had experience using systems like this instead of or alongside ads. I can believe in myself and even have a technically great product and still fail if no one uses it.

Advice for entrepreneurs learning just enough code to build their MVP's?

    WEB/DIGITAL
He's never programmed before. He wants to have a MVP in a little over a month. Sure, he may be someone that can pick it up in a week - but if he was he'd probably already be programming. It would be an exceptional individual who could go from never having written a single line of code to...

This guy used an insane get-rich-quick scheme to become a start-up millionaire in three weeks

He didn't get jet.com. There is a company jet.com that ran a contest where the winner got 100,000 shares, pre-IPO. He made a calculated guess and spent $18k to win the contest, and is now a shareholder.

This guy used an insane get-rich-quick scheme to become a start-up millionaire in three weeks

The story mentions two sites Swagbuck and Gifthulk. I'd been thinking about doing something similar - paying people (in one way or another) to give up info or try a piece of software. Has anyone here done that to validate or promote their businesses?

Advice for entrepreneurs learning just enough code to build their MVP's?

    WEB/DIGITAL
"I don't want to be a surgeon. I just want to learn enough so i can do this guy's bypass, then I proceed from there." A MVP is still a fully functional product, albeit minimal. It's no easier to make than the full-fledged product, the full-fledged product just takes more time - but time spent...

    The Active Forex Traders Discussion

    HOT! INVESTING
There are less than a dozen major currencies, and they are all heavily traded. Even relatively large companies (US nationwide) are often thinly traded. Years ago I bought $1000 of LEE (a newspaper conglomerate) when it was under a dollar. That tiny order got split into 4 sub-orders to...

Do you rather work on your business or do you rather sleep?

    HOT! MINDSET
This is key, it's also how you deal with many other unpleasant tasks. Once you've got it down to something you just do - rather than having to think and do - then all you have to do is decide to start. The rest is auto-pilot. There's a book (sorry forgot title) that has a "rider and elephant"...

    Wal-Mart eCommerce

This kind of thing is exactly why I think Wal*Mart will win out over Amazon in the long term. I would use that grocery pickup, heck I've been trying to think for years of how to do something like that so food/groceries/whatever is ready to go when you get there. Wal*Mart has the logistics and...

    Wal-Mart eCommerce

I'm one of those contrarians who thinks Wal*Mart will become the dominant online catalog retailer, instead of Amazon, although that has a lot more to do with Amazon being way out there on the risk scale rather than Wal*Mart being all that great...

Do you rather work on your business or do you rather sleep?

    HOT! MINDSET
I'm one of those people who always feels awful when they wake up. I followed a Tim Ferris tip that suggested low blood sugar is the problem. Sure enough, eating a few bits of dried fruit right after I wake up dramatically improves things within a few minutes. It's much easier to for me to get...

The wild west days of Bitcoin may be drawing to a close. Check out this article on Coinbase: http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2015/01/20/coinbase-a-bitcoin-start-up-raises-75-million-in-vote-of-confidence As to why Bitcoin would have any value, there's an interesting argument that it's the...
