    Should we combat climate change?

    OFF-TOPIC
A tax won't fix it for sure. All it'll do is make most average people miserable. Like in France with the yellow jackets. While the elite will be able to afford all the fossil fuel they need. It's a new form of slavery and aristocracy.

    Should we combat climate change?

    OFF-TOPIC
Let's get this straight: the confusion between Co2 and pollution is stupid. Co2 is not a pollutant. It may make things warmer but it is a source of life for many organisms. And if it is a pollutant, then human beings themselves are polluting by breathing. I run a lot and emit a lot of Co2 every...

Does everyone struggle to learn code?

    HOT! MINDSET
PHP is a fantastic language. Problem is: it's like freedom. If you use it the wrong way it can turn to shit pretty quickly. Usually people who criticize PHP are people who are not disciplined enough to keep things clean.

Does everyone struggle to learn code?

    HOT! MINDSET
It can be challenging for complex topics. Object oriented programming is usually when a lot of people hit some kind of roadblock. It requires abstract thinking, which some people are not good at. I was a trainer in programming and I had to use very concrete example to showcase object oriented...

You copywriters are being replaced by AI..

    HOT! MARKETING
Maybe it's me but if everything is getting similar and bland b/c of AI, people will tune out.

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
The question is: who will control all that AI. I share Nietzsche's view that man is all about will to power. Let's assume the richest will control the AI, the richest could enjoy the planet without doing anymore work and employees. Do you believe the most powerful would really need the masses...

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
Saying UBI will generate growth is like saying having many gov employees will generate growth. Amen. Taxing LABOR is a major problem. If labor becomes rare why keep taxing it? Why tax companies on the cost of their labor too. In France they used to tax you based on the number of employees...

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
The economy grows if people need stuff. Even now the aging of the population makes growth something very difficult. Not many people mention it. That's why Japan has no growth. Even negative interest rates don't generate any growth. People can't even get that.

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
Right and then the UBI amount is never enough and it never ends. In the meantime the Chinese don't give a damn about that stuff. We'll get lazy and stupid while the Communist government over there is building an army of robots.

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
I think a lot of people would sit on their butts. How many already do on social security because of some fake disability? (I have examples around me.) UBI sounds good but in exchange people should be mandated to volunteer too if you're not showing any productive behavior. Why not go teach kids...

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
The first thing I'd use AI for would be to replace politicians. Because let's be honest most of them are of average IQ. They have speaking skills but very often they are idiots. So AI replacing politicians. AI won't be corrupt. AI won't need money. Then we can decouple money from politics and...

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
Plus people really think that'd have no impact on tax levels, inflation, cost of labor, etc... The proponents of UBI think it works in a vacuum. One has to be logical: if healthcare must be free, college must be free, and UBI needs to happen, why aren't food and lodging free? Aren't they the...

Time to shake things up: Universal Basic Income?

    OFF-TOPIC
Politicians will always promise more. Now some want minimum wage to be at 20. It never ends in the pitching of ANY ideas to get votes. France has some kind of basic income called RSA (used to be RMI.) Granted it's not very much but the French economy hasn't been that great. Add illegal...

A Mass of Mass Shootings... Guns? Or Mental Illness?

    OFF-TOPIC
Mental illness obviously and evil. Evil is too often forgotten. If guns were acting by themselves, everybody would be dead in this country.

From difficult 15 minutes run to 4 hours run in 2 years.

    HEALTH
Congratulations. Running regularly changes your mindset. Long runs especially. It makes you tougher, makes you work longer, and if you train often it really helps with discipline and impulse control. That's what he's done for me. Keep it up!

Apple is too expensive for me

I got a Dell 4k display, 1TB SSD, great CPU, 32G at Costco for $1800 and installed Ubuntu on it. Dual boot windows ubuntu. Great machine. Same with Apple would've cost an arm and a leg.

    HEALTH
All about moderation my friend. Not face stuffing whatever you stuff your face with. I do intermittent fasting to teach my body to eat when I'm hungry and not when I have an oral fixation. Then I eat a lot less. All those diets are fads and at some point people drop. It's easier to eat a little...
