I only read "best-selling" books which gives me a curated, narrow viewpoint.

I agree 100%! But… How to we vet whether a book that isn’t “highly reviewed on Amazon” is even worth our time. Beside the obvious crowd-sourcing you’re doing here. Thank sir

I’m reading Ask by Ryan Levesque. I just started but it’s pretty interesting. Here on big takeaway so far for me: When it comes to asking questions, whether they’re a big corporation or a one-person boutique, business owners are prone to making the same costly mistake: They try to just ask...

Like Reid Hoffman said: “In order to scale you have to do things that don’t scale.” Reid’s theory: If you want your company to truly scale, you first have to do things that don’t scale. Hand-craft the core experience. Serve your customers one-by-one. Then figure out how and what to scale...

Scratching your own itch. Ie. I love to eat the “Big Papa” pickles but I freaking can’t stand accidently squeezing the pickle too hard and spraying pickle juice all over me. It’s a pain in the butt to eat a pickle at work, movie theatres, football games etc. If I could use some gizmo to...

Welcome to the FLF! As far as idea formulation, what specific problem/pain-point in the gym industry are you trying to solve? If I missed it in your post, my apologies.

You have to be ‘The Guide’. The customer is the hero - Luke Skywalker - and we are Yoda (the guide). Story brand by Donal Miller does an amazing job explaining this and validating what you said.

It's almost like trying to surf in the ocean and getting mad with the waves because they don't do what YOU want. LOL! All you can do is ride it and adapt. As mentioned before and tailored by me: "your preferences about the waves have no impact on them."

This is so true. Not just in business but in life. In fact, that's Marc Randolph's (founder of Netflix) whole messaging with his brand. So the "do what you love" and "passion-to-profit" is non-sense and really messing everyone up. Messed me up for years.
