Web 3.0 (Ethereum) is happening, and most people have no idea what it even is.

    GOLD! IDEA
Reminds me of when Brian Armstrong was looking for a co-founder for Coinbase and all of the brilliant minds on HackerNews smugly tore his idea apart in 2012. He's now a billionaire. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3754664 Some of my favorites: "I don't think you've properly thought this...

I sell garlic presses on Amazon and make literally tens of dollars per month. Kidding. Me and some of my former investors have formed an informal private equity group, technically a "fundless sponsor" model as we don't have outside capital, just our own money and strong relationships with...

Yeah the timeline was no joke. You're dealing with academics and bureaucrats, not entrepreneurs, so things move slowly. Our initial license probably took 6 months from idea -> discussion -> verbal agreement -> various contract drafts -> final signed version. Subsequent licenses were much...

@Kak I just listed to the episode around partnerships. It's a great brief intro-level discussion around what these could look like. While understanding the need to maintain confidentiality for your own projects, my feedback would be that people could benefit from an expanded episode that goes...

In VC, the size of the opportunity is one of the biggest criteria. Because roughly 90% of their investments go bust, each investment by necessity must have greater than a 10x potential return. If they are investing in businesses that can only return 5x, the math simply doesn't work. Even if...

    PEOPLE HOT!
Yeah @Kak why are you wasting your time meeting with evil politicians who control million and billion dollar budgets? That seems like a lot of work. If you're trying to get rich, have you heard of a Roth IRA? -------------------------- In practical news, one thing that has worked for me is to...

@Scot I made a thread a while back about generating interest in a fundraising round before you even open the round. It did not get much traction but you may find it useful for your situation: Fundraising tip: Raise the round before it's even open EDIT: Oops, you are already in that thread...

In general, you are going to have a tough time finding VC interest in deals that size unless they are a smaller VC firm. The big names with several hundred million or a billion+ sized firm are typically looking at deals involving $1 million or more. It's just math: even a 50x home run return...

@GlobalWealth excellent thread and great value here. A question regarding taxation for US persons. You mentioned on the first page that you may owe US taxes depending on how the business is structured. Do you have a preferred legal entity to minimize this? I.e. some sort of legal entity...

Money System: Technical Analysis Question (MZA vs FAX)

    INVESTING
Thanks this is very helpful. For others who are reading, here is a summary from that page: "So if the tax character of a fund’s distributions cannot be relied upon to reveal whether or not a fund has earned its distributions, how can a shareholder determine this important information? It’s...

Money System: Technical Analysis Question (MZA vs FAX)

    INVESTING
Agreed, it does affect the capital gains when the shares are sold and gains are realized. I was referring to the tax treatment on the monthly distributions themselves. Generally, they aren't taxable as it's considered part of your original investment simply being returned to you.

Thanks for weighing in and glad to see confirmation of my theory. That 8%+ yield is tantalizingly juicy, but dangerous.

Money System: Technical Analysis Question (MZA vs FAX)

    INVESTING
This relates to the Money System mentioned towards the back of Unscripted, and how to perform due diligence on quality of cash flows. This will compare two examples (at least one is mentioned in the book): BlackRock MuniYield Arizona (MZA) and Aberdeen Asia-Pacific Income Fund Inc (FAX). Both...
