Contrary to, I think, many on this forum, I am NOT interested in becoming rich.
I have read MJ. DeMarco's books several times now, and have devoted a lot of thinking about his unique perspective, and have devoted many hours of meditation on the contents of his books.
MJ. DeMarco is a genius! He has penetrated deep into the subject of money. That is what attracted me to this forum.
Still, there are several things I think he does not realize. The main thing is that he thinks in terms of lanes. Sidewalk, Slowlane and Fastlane. These are not 'lanes', that is, alternative routes one can take. These are successions of expansions of money consciousness. Just like Newton's theory is conceptually totally different from Einsteinian mechanics, but is nevertheless incorporated in it. So is the Sidewalk a stage in the development of money-consciousness, and is incorporated in the higher level of money-consciousness incorporated in the Slowlane. And the Slowlane in its turn is incorporated in the still higher level of money consciousness of the Fastlaner. For example, a slowlaner still has to work to obtain money, through servicing his customers. A sidewalker just has one customer, his boss. And a Fastlaner still has to work to set up his business to serve the customers he wants to attract. Therefore, Sidewalk, Slowlane and Fastlane are not 'lanes', but stages in the development of money-consciousness. And with it goes paradigm shifts, which make them appear AS IF they are alternate lanes.
I am interested in debating this issue. That is why I am attracted to this forum.
The reason why I am not interested in becoming rich in the way MJ. DeMarco wants to convince others to do so, is that there is a real cost in expanding one's money consciousness in the world as it is now. He asserts, that, in the beginning, you have to give up just about everything and devote yourself entirely to becoming a multi-millionaire.
This causes tremendous stress. And I think there MUST BE some way to avoid that. Maybe in developing a form of money-consciousness that goes beyond even that of MJ. DeMarco?
In any case, this is my primary interest. So, just for the record. Although I have written some books about money, I am NOT here to promote any of them. I am just here to exchange ideas. Nothing else.
