[AMA] $25m+ in affiliate mktg revenue & exiting the game: Ask me anything.

    WEB/DIGITAL
I tested it for a few days, got bored. I don't like buying mobile advertising right now. I think it's way over-rated, reporting on all of the big networks is dreadful, and mobile users are not likely to purchase anything. For instance, a big % of the mobile traffic are people on the move...

    1. Quantcast is a good jumping-off point. Google Ad Planner is also very good. Tip: never hurts to ask your traffic source of choice for a report on sites they would recommend placing your ad. Usually they will pull up a competitor's campaign and feed you their data -- after all, competition...

I've never personally tried it. Not sure how well it would work. You would be crossing mediums... popups being re-targeted to banners. The end-user might not even realize the correlation. Makes me think of Ghostbusters ... "don't cross the streams".

I disappeared for a while as I gear up for my first product launch as merchant (not affiliate!)... figured I'd answer these last few questions. After these questions I'll still poke my head back in this thread but really only to answer intermediate/advanced/theory questions not newbie/how-to...

I use an accounting firm to manage my federal and state tax obligations. I honestly hate the entire topic. Tax liabilities has nothing to do with future estimated earnings. You pay taxes based on what you profited from 1/1/2013 to 12/31/2013. If you made $750,000 in profit this year, you...

Couple things. First, pick a traffic type and stick with it. Master it before you move on. PPV and media buying are totally different animals with totally different metrics. Your comparison of PPV to media buys doesn't work. Yeah, you're paying a min of $11 CPM on TV. But that's for...

Cloaking offers and screwing ad networks is a great long term business plan. I'd be careful of "flash" offers. They are banned for a reason. Rumor has it the govt is about to jump in and put a lot of guys out of business.

Mundo, AboveAllOffers, C2M, Clickbooth ... it's a pretty endless list. I've heard of Affiliati but it's pretty strange they don't offer intl offers. onehourtranslation for landers. The advertising network should be able to furnish top URLs/targets/kws per intl geo.

PPV was a huge part and continues to be one of my favorites, but it's only part of my business. I don't operate like that. I think earlier in the thread (and I may be wrong) I mentioned I use a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" strategy. So I'll get the top 100k domains, max...

Sure, try intl. You can be more aggressive w/ your promotions. Think outside the AU/UK/CA box, too. onehourtranslation is your friend. I would personally never hire a "coach" or a self-proclaimed guru. My guess is your buddy is trying to get you to join up and use him as a referral so he...

Even a small profit margin these days isn't bad. It's what I call a "credit card points campaign". You make a little money, but if you're spending $1k+ a day you rack up some nice credit card points quickly!

Hey, Nice to hear you are testing campaigns. Tons of people draw up big plans for affiliate marketing campaigns then never so much as join an ad network or CPA network. So good job there. And congrats on the +$500 /day profit campaign. Boxofads and whatrunswhere are just okay. I would say...

Makes 100% sense. I've become good friends with a lot of account managers at major cpa networks, and most of them only last 3-5 years working for a cpa network before they go full-time/self-employed affiliate marketer. You're in a unique position where you have access to data that most do not...

Proper LLC setup & asset protection for "high risk" businesses

Curious about something and hoping some of the legal eagle's can point me off in the right direction. In the next few months, I plan on moving from affiliate marketer to product owner. The product will be a free trial w/ recurring rebill for a skincare product. Even though this is a billion...
