    Finland is not a neutral country. It was perhaps kind of true during cold war but certainly not after our EU membership and other developments during the last 30 years.

    Those dots on the second map are not all bases. There are no NATO bases in Finland or Sweden for example, liaison offices or something like that maybe. The dot on sea between Finland and Sweden makes zero sense, perhaps it should be lower on Åland island..? The whole map looks quite sketchy..

    That's funny but most of the stuff that Russia has used there so far is ancient: T72's, BMP-1's, BMP-2's, MTLB's etc. You could literally run circles around them in an Abrams or Merkava and not have a care in the world.

    Putin has certainly broken character here, he has not taken risks even nearly this big before. The UK defence minister said that "he has gone full tonto". I don't know what tonto means but it doesn't sound very flattering. I certainly wouldn't rule out Putin having serious mental health issues...

    It has been estimated that 75% of Russian conventional forces are tied in this operation. Do you think they can continue that for decades? Putin is counting on this being a quick and relatively painless (for Russians) operation. A prolonged war could be catastrophic for him.
