    Fastlane Parenting (Tips, Tactics...)

    GOLD! PEOPLE
This thread cannot go on without mentioning "Mindset" by Carol Dweck. A huge part of the book is about how certain ways of behaving with children defines what their attitudes are going to be in life. There's a lot of research with how different approaches in motivating/encouraging children...

How to validate idea if potential market is very small (high ticket)

    IDEA
As it turns out, i can make enough of a demo for a proof of concept, so I might be able to give them a preview of what's to come. I do know who to call (company), just wasn't sure about handling the corporate structure I guess. It's a continuous service all year round, so free might be a...

How to validate idea if potential market is very small (high ticket)

    IDEA
The development of the solution will be continuous, so as time goes, so will the barrier to entry. As I already have a lot of knowledge in the area, and the skillset I need, the risk of new competitors (that would perform better than me) is very low. Yes, it will be repeat clients, because I am...

How to validate idea if potential market is very small (high ticket)

    IDEA
So here's the situation: I've identified a problem that is a very large scale (costs companies potentially $xx,xxx,xxx/year), can be partially solved (20-30%, possibly up to 50-60%), I know who my clients would be, and I can solve it (to the % outlined above). It's not easy or simple, but i...

Thinking of buying an ecommerce business. Any tips?

    HOT!
Hiring 1-2 people should lower the price because usually in these deals, the sellers don't list themselves as employees, and they are putting in the hours like ones. So with 1 employee at 50k/year, 270k profit becomes 220k. Also, given that your traffic comes from adwords/other shopping...

The next gold rush - IoT (internet of things)

    WEB/DIGITAL
Anti viruses, firewalls, security hardware, intrusion detection systems, mobile security - each of them is a field where you can develop products or services (or both). You can make it fastline, it wouldn't be automated, but you can make it very scalable.

    NOTABLE! HOT! BOOKS CHAT
I don't think they read any of that for motivation per say, but understanding yourself (and your environment) is something a successful person would want. A friend of mine who I consider successful (around 1m/year) has recommended me some of the books recommended in this thread. Also, Warren...

Are People With High IQs More Successful?

    HOT!
There is a very good theory by Malcolm Gladwell (i think this was the interview but not sure) : where he basically points out that although you need a high IQ to a certain extent, that is not the deciding factor. His approach sees it as one prerequisite, and once you are over the threshold...

He makes some valid points to support that. I am currently focusing on my business, I am focused on expanding, I am focused on growing personally, and i have a lot of uncertainty in my life. The last thing I need is to get any type of debt that doesn't help me achieve my goals. I am working on...

Learning From Game of Thrones on HBO

If you want to go and do it your way, that is completely fine. In the process, you'll find out if it was right or wrong (and it might cost a bit). However, I don't think you should be locking in your budget before you do some actual research. Ghost writer - How did you come up with that...

An Excellent Article From Mark Cuban's Early Blog

    MINDSET
You should read his book - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006AX6ONI/?tag=tff-amazonparser-20 - it's put together from most of his blog posts and kind of glued together with his story. Very good read!

Disagree with some of the book

About the business plan: Having a defined plan of action helps you separate "thinking" from "doing", and by doing that you get a lot more done, you stay focused on the important tasks (doing sales calls for example) instead of the less important tasks (perfecting your facebook page header).
