Is there an e-commerce problem that Amazon and eBay don't solve?

I've been advised to focus on comic books, Im hesitant because its a small market and hard as hell to gain traction. I've never seen a comic book on the cover of ebay. I don't understand what that means. Giving sellers access direct access to buyers? Not sure what that means. Very...

Chicken & Egg: How to solve?

Get some people to try your new service for free, and use that experience and their feedback to test it and work the kinks out. Ask them for feedback and say "Naturally we love compliments and will use them in our marketing".

Is there an e-commerce problem that Amazon and eBay don't solve?

Thats the reaction I've been getting from other people and showing it to investors. I thought I was solving a problem by charging a smaller fee than eBay, but when I talk to sellers they aren't that interested. Even though they complain, they still sell with eBay.

Is there an e-commerce problem that Amazon and eBay don't solve?

Im trying to identify a "marketplace" need that eBay doesnt cover. I've spent time putting together a marketplace and Im met with constant friction on it. 100% of the time I'm asked this question: "How are you different from eBay? 50% of the time I'm asked this question: "Why does someone need...

Realistically, is there still money in publishing mobile apps?

    SAAS / APPS
Great intelligent responses to this. I was just seeing things like it was a "Goldrush" for the app market, and then seeing the other side with developers who are having a hard time selling their apps so wanted to get a fresh perspective. Thank you both

Realistically, is there still money in publishing mobile apps?

    SAAS / APPS
So I work in Mountain View and hang out with developers, many are iOS devs. They are all broke. Some of them have been making apps for over a year and none of them hit. They are middle aged men who are renting shared rooms very far away from Mt View to scrape by. Some are living in rooms on...

Should you mention your competitor if they are a huge company?

Here's what Jessica Livingston of Ycombinator says. Now I know Fastlane Forum is about building your own successful business and not necessarily about going to incubators and VC's, but it's a perspective from a very successful person in the trenches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66_obXGqt4o...

Should you mention your competitor if they are a huge company?

If your business competes with a huge well known business, should you mention them as your business model? For example i look at https://duckduckgo.com and the first question they get asked is "How are you different from Google" Their answer is basically that "Google tracks you, we don't"...

    Where can i find a start-up partner?

Check business sections on Meetup.com, best website ever. Im from Boston and I know there are some huge business groups with amazingly talented people in that area you can connect with. If you join a group and RSVP to an event it lets you post what you're looking for. My advice is to be direct...

Can your phyiscal location hold you back?

GetRight, I'm from Fort Lauderdale Florida and I know *exactly* how you feel. For me I felt the people in South Florida were slower paced and I felt that living in a beach non-business community held me back, so 2 months ago I moved to Santa Clara, CA. Silicon Valley with a startup. Its only...
