Inside CRM wrote 50 Ways Your Website is Discouraging Conversions -- And How to Fix it. I like some of them (Your site is too wordy) but others seem to conflict (Your competitor has a slicker site / Your site doesn't look professional). Thoughts?

I agree with you. It seemed like pretty decent advice. I find that alot of sites I visit have dead links and its frustrating.

But as far as "Your competitor has a slicker site" goes, the writer should check out Craigslist, wantaddigest, and others. I think its more about being user friendly than "flashy."

Dead links are a big turnoff. It tells me the site is old and unmaintained.

Thanks for the link. Interesting point made about visitors read information in a "Z" pattern. You should have your strongest selling point located at the first part of the Z and follow along that pattern...

I thought that was great too! There's a time and place for creativity and beautiful design, but does it detract from sales?
