So I'm hearing a commercial in the background today in the breakroom for Grand's Biscuits.

You can tell that their polling data says people are scared.

So what was the pitch?

"Buttery, flaky, rich...."

Nope, none of that. Instead it was "And each Grand's biscuit costs less than 25 cents!"

Holy coupon clippers, Batman ...when did price become a differentiator for biscuits? Have I gotten spoiled or are biscuits something you pick up and toss in the cart when off your diet?

Food for thought, pun fully intended, how does a shift toward the value sell play into your business plans. The new pitch isn't best, it isn't 'be the first!' the new pitch is 'we are cheaper than the other guy'.

Frugality is the new wave ... I read somewhere that "frugal" websites are growing in traffic very nicely. If your target the frugal demographic, which is growing, I'd imagine marketing on a price point seems to be the default route.

I don't know if that is a game worth winning.

If I have to fight with everybody for one cent price difference then that market is ruined, no?
