Mainly I want freedom! That means having enough time and money not to worry! Of course I also want a nice car. But I am more like a "cheap" nice car person :) For example I don't want a Lambo that screams MONEEEEY! I do want a Maserati that is much cheaper and affordable. Of course I am talking used ones, don't care about new because its a waste of money buying a new car...unless you really have a s**t ton of it and you really don't care then sure why not :)

But mainly freedom to spend time how ever I please and not be limited by money. For example I want to have an option to go to Maldives tomorrow if I like and have no worries how much that will cost because I can afford it!

I've put this in off topic as it is more dreamer than progress but thought it would be fun to know peoples reasons for going into business/wanting to make a decent amount of money. MJ spoke about wanting to be the driver of his own lambo. Some want freedom or time with your kids. Mine, I want to emigrate with my family to the U.S. and unless you go the marriage route (which i doubt my wife would appreciate ha!) or have a degree(NOPE!) the only other way is to have money/business assets. That's what keeps my flame burning bright. How about you?
My Lambo is a Jaguar F-Type 2017

I feel like the amount of money I need to be financially free is getting lower all the time if I'm honest.

But as far as luxury items, the only car I'd be interested in is Porsche, but mostly I'm looking forward to being able to travel business/first class whenever and wherever I want. Emirates A380 from Australia to Europe in economy is still nice but I want to walk up those stairs dammit.

- Prove to others that anyone can do it, just give yourself the means and NEVER give up.
- Giving things to my mom that she doesn’t think she can have right now.
- Travel whenever I want.
- Discover new things.
- To be able to give me a Hurucan Evo Spyder, the kid’s dream:)

Not sure. I have been a little undecided on this entrepreneurship lately. Entrepreneurship really isn't for the money; although that's great. But idk, I guess I'll see where life takes me.

If I had to decide. Freedom for me would be a red Ferrari. And I would have a beard. And be slim and fit. Yeah. F yeah

Greetings,

Well, for me it's 3 things that are fuel to my fire:

1- My country's past. I'm a Kurd from Iraq. We are the largest ethnic group without an independent country(around 40 million people). We stand between the borders of Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. Many people sacrificed their lives for a dream, which is to gain independence and be a leading country in the region. If I can have .001% role in getting it closer, I'll be very happy.

2- My past. My parents went through A LOT for me to be here. The days where my father had to leave the country because he couldn't work in Iraq for the turmoil happening before Saddam's regime collapsing, and his father not allowing him to work independently. He left me and my mother(me: 1 year old, my mother: 23 years old) to work in the UAE, not knowing what to do, where to go. It was tough for both my parents, my mother having married my father for 2 years and raising a child who was very energetic and different from the other children, and my father being in the middle of no-where trying to find a way to make money so he could bring me and my mother to the UAE with him. The story is much more detailed, but I don't want this to be too long.

3-The future and connecting the dots of the past. The thought of reaching your potential and achieving your dreams is something all people wanted, but gave up on as we all know. I can't stop thinking of that day where I'll be having a family and get to offer them the best life there is. I can't stop thinking of being an inspiration and role model to many others who will be in the same place as I am right now, not knowing where to start, but has to start somewhere. And of course, materialistic things like the BMW i8 and Ford F-150 Raptor, if they stay relevant for the time I have the freedom to buy them. But the most important thing, living a life with the least amount of regrets, a life where I went further than what people and even myself thought were possible.

I work to decrease the leverage the decisions of fools have over my life. Arbitrary and bossy people have always pissed me off. No one asked for their dictates but they feel compelled to make them for some reason.

I don’t give a shit about fancy stuff. I have a nice but very affordable car and rent decent but affordable rooms in areas I’m checking out real estate and meeting people. My cost of living is covered in a few days. The only luxury is going to interesting trips/restaurants.

Im at the point I can live anywhere and am starting new ventures simply to stay sharp and not recede back. These are higher EV opportunities that are taking me to the next level.

My 2.7 year old son is severely Autistic and completely non-verbal.
My income, while high, is crippled by what it costs to send him to a special preschool and specialists so he can have a chance. The government doesn't consider this on my taxes, so they rape me like I have a ton of disposable income. Insurance doesn't cover "tuition" or specialists for autistic children.
My lambo is being able to survive and pay my mortgage while giving my son a real chance at being independent.

High end passport, e.g. Malta, an AP Royal Oak for my daily beater and then I'll start buying some nice watches.

I want to build a meditation center outside my town, and a dream house for my family with guest houses, gardens, full time staff, etc.

Private security to ride ahead of my driver on the highway and make sure the road is clear.

Lots of free time and the ability to do whatever I want, whenever I want.

Surf trips and mountain climbing around the world.

My Lambo as I turned 50 is downright simple and straight:
Become financially free asap so I can yell a big f*ck you to those pimps ruling our lives as if we were freakin pieces of sh*t. Then a luxury retreat in the mountains, probably Switzerland, where I will be contemplating on the setup of a reinvented Ronin Hood style 'clan'
(not the company).

A comfortable, nice home, paid for, and the freedom to spend my time as I wish (without living like a pauper).

Also, a high level of wealth/income so that any idea I have can be put into motion with relative ease, with less regard for the profitability of the idea.

I love new ideas but I am only 1 person with 24 hours in a day. I want to try everything!

edit: Once achieving this, I'll go for more. Private island, maybe? ;-)

This is my ultimate dream. 35,000+ acres in a state that will be the last to be overpopulated. New Mexico. Small enough I can probably bribe local officials into leaving me alone and forgetting I'm even there.

Self sufficient/ sustainable where I only go into town twice a year. Plenty of room for a food forest, multiple mansions, and I could build an Amish type community if I wanted.

Freedom and money to the point the outside events/turmoil don't affect me.

For as long as I can remember I've always had a passion for flying. The only issue is, I don't come from wealth and it's an expensive hobby haha! I thought about becoming a commercial pilot, but I came to the realisation that I didn't want to be flying a bus on wheels with autopilot doing most of the work for me.

I'm working towards my Icon A5:

For me it's mostly time. I want to be free to pursue the things that I want, mainly focus on healthy living (playing lot's of sports) and spending time with friends and family. But I also have a dreamcar, even though I don't know how to drive yet. I don't live in a place where I need a car, so it's really a luxury item for me. I'd only get one when I have more money that I can spend.

I want the freedom to do fun stuff. I want time for sports and video games. I want time for making music. I saw some programmer who spends the summers in Croatia sitting outside in the sun working. It seems pretty ill to be able to do something like that.

I also want to fix up my grand-grandpa's house on the countryside, to sort of honor my forefathers, but also because it's a nice, relaxing, location with everything from mountains to beaches nearby. Would be nice to include some luxuries in the house, like a decent gym, an indoor basketball court, a volleyball court outside, a nice garden, etc.

Another dream of mine is to spend a year or two cruising the ocean on a yacht. I've seen clips of John McAfee, and MF DOOM doing exactly that, and it felt like something I just had to experience.

BTW, I do have some dream cars: a Chevrolet Corvette C4 1996 with the headlights that flip up, and a Tesla Cybertruck as a beater. Maybe a vintage Rolls Royce if I want to go really wild.

King Los sums it up well, though:
The court-side seats behind the Lakers kind of cool
The acres behind the lake, and the lake is behind the pool
The pool is behind the mansion, the mansion behind the Phantom
The Phantom behind some trees, and a tall gate, please

Hmm. It all started when I watched a YouTube video about a man sailing the world on his own; I then thought to myself won't this be cool to do for the rest of my life, I immediately googled sailboats to check prices, I was disappointed because the prices are nowhere in my price range, I was 19 at the time, and broke. Anyway, I fell in love with a yacht called Discovery 51, and decided I'd commit into buying it and making my dream a reality, I'll attach a photo of the yacht.
Sailing has always fascinated me because of how free one is when practicing it.
Plus, it's not convenient for me to work for other people, I value life and I see no point in working, unless one is truly serving a purpose like a doctor or such.. but, overall, I just would like to be free for a lifetime. Guess, I'll have to earn that freedom! I'm almost 21 now and I'm still trying to do something worthy. Wish me luck. Good luck yourselves!

I think some people here in the US really need to give this a good read, particular young kids who think they have it bad. Now they just want everything free.

Anyhow, this is my *new* Lambo I am working for...

luxury_smoky_mountains_cabin1.jpg

Buying with income already earned is not how I roll either, must be new earnings!
The interior is MINDBLOWING! Gosh... How much would this cost? I think the wood alone costs a little fastlane fortune.

"Convenient"????? I guess eating and having a place to sleep doesn't motivate you enough to work???? I don't understand. Or are you financially independent?

No. I'm not financially independent, yet. I just don't see the point of work at all, I mean, I know that we have to contribute somehow to society in order to earn a living/fortune, some contribute by having jobs, some have businesses, I think what I want to say is: I don't want to work for my whole life, and I'm 21 and I already feel like time is slipping away from my hands. I just want to sail the world and basically have the freedom of doing whatever I want; I know that I need to earn this. I don't know if I make sense..

No it doesn't make any good sense to me. I can tell that you have never been hungry or homeless. Try it for a few days. It will change your attitude forever. And you obviously have no work ethic. How sad. I guess you can become a grifter/con man -- but I can tell you that it's easier to earn your living rather than trying to cheat others out of what they have.

Who is paying your bills. Today? Right now? How are you eating? Where are you living? Someone, somewhere is paying for you -- since you are not working. You must have internet in order to come onto this forum. Who pays for that service? Who bought your computer or smart phone? There is no such thing as a free lunch! Who is spoiling you by taking care of you?

If you were my kid, you would have several years of working experience by now. You wouldn't be sitting around scratching your backside. The whole reason for parenting is help to create an independent, self directed adult. I've raised two families so I have little bit of on the job experience. All my kids are out there working hard -- taking care of themselves, their families, and creating their own lives. NOT one of them is a lazy-bones or a criminal.

You're worried about time slipping by. Am I wasting my time by having this conversation?

Hey, thank you for your reply/slap!

Based on your answer; it looks like I failed miserably to communicate my thoughts. Excuse me, English isn't my first language, nor my second, I get lost trying to explain myself.

I live with my parents still. But, I do provide for myself everything that isn't food/shelter, although, I'm trying to save money to start a few business ventures. I'm very non-spoiled thou. Yes, I've had experiences where I had to sleep in the streets, and I did experience hunger; not for long thou.

What I was trying to say.. is that I'd like to retire by a young age because I want all my time for me/family! And do what I like most which is sailing.

I don't think I can make a good conman/criminal as I'm a very honest person, and stealing don't abide by my morals.

One thing you're partially right at is: I never looked for summer jobs, my parents never told me to do so, and I was lazy and didn't know where to start/no guidance. But, I was at home learning about various topics(business, finance, marketing..), and doing freelance, I consider that work thou.

Overall, I'm very not the person you thought I was.

Thanks.

I guess I was too hard on you. I know that it will be different for you when you no longer have your parents to provide the basics for you. Your post made it sound like you are opposed to working. You didn't seem to see any purpose in it. I believe that lazy people should go hungry so you hit a nerve with me.

Becoming successful sometimes takes many years of hard work and trying different ideas. I've seen people go through a bunch of failures before they make it work. Is that learning curve a waste of time? It depends on how you look at it. And most people must make their fortunes 3 times before they are able to hang onto the money. Making the money is one skill set. Keeping and growing the money is totally another.

Got to go help my husband run the wood splitter. We're getting our firewood in for this coming winter...

I don't mind someone's hard reply, since there's a chance they might point out a defect in me that I wasn't noticing. I also know it'll be different; I've been thinking of going for it at least for a few months and see how it goes.. I just reread my post and yeah.. it sounded like I'm lazy and want it handed to me--which I'm not.

I know how odds work, but.. I genuinely believe that odds can be bent if one knows enough about a subject/industry to compete in it and be the best, alongside with some business concepts. Well, whether the learning curve is a waste of time or not; it is the only way.. I actually haven't made any large amounts of money; which eats away at me sometimes.. so I have no idea whether keeping money is a skillset; I only know that I have to fight off inflation by investing it; which in itself is a large subject to dive into/learn.

You guys have a nice winter over there!

Thanks.
