Hi business owners,

Do you currently have a WordPress website for your business?

We are working on a website maintenance service and interested to get a better understanding of the issues you might be facing.

In return we will work with you to fix the issues free of charge.

0. How many websites do you currently manage?

1. What do you use your website for? (ex: generating leads, online sales, informational)

2. Do you measure your website visitors? If yes, approx how many visitors per month?

3. Out of the visitors, approx how many of them convert to sign ups (ex: newsletter, contact form, sales)?

4. Who currently maintains (fixing bugs, customising, managing content) your website?

5. Do you do any online advertising that leads to your website? if yes, how is the conversion rate?

6. Top issues with managing and maintaining your website?

7. Are you interested in a free website health checkup? please share your websites here

8. Are you interested in outsourcing your website maintenance and management?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thank you

0. How many websites do you currently manage?

Three

1. What do you use your website for? (ex: generating leads, online sales, informational)

eCommerce using WooCommerce, second one is a blog in the same niche as the eCommerce site and helps build traffic+trust, third is a new informational blog that I am yet to start

2. Do you measure your website visitors? If yes, approx how many visitors per month?

Usually anywhere between 30-300 unique visitors (not pageviews) per day. Not a whole lot, but my traffic is very targeted and has a high conversion rate.

3. Out of the visitors, approx how many of them convert to sign ups (ex: newsletter, contact form, sales)?

I would say about ~20%, sometimes a bit more.

4. Who currently maintains (fixing bugs, customising, managing content) your website?

I do.

5. Do you do any online advertising that leads to your website? if yes, how is the conversion rate?

No, the nature of my eCommerce site does not allow PPC :(. I have been trying to come up with new eCommerce ideas that are PPC friendly as I find it takes too much work setting up organic traffic flow that is automated.

6. Top issues with managing and maintaining your website?

Small/TIny customizations. No I am not talking about little CSS changes or removing attribution from theme footer. Simple stuff like, I want an additional field on WooCommerce checkout for customers to enter their "PayPal email". Or maybe some PHP plugin which can read all orders from WooCommerce and send PayPal money request for the order's $ amount to the customers email. Not very technical, but would still require coding skills.

7. Are you interested in a free website health checkup? please share your websites here

No thanks. I am slightly OCD and one of the things that I care about a lot is my website's speed and performance, so you get the idea? LOL

8. Are you interested in outsourcing your website maintenance and management?

I have to copy/paste customer details into a specific spreadsheet to be used by my dropshipper to fulfil orders. In the future I can see this become too boring for me to handle as the number of daily orders increase.

Apart from this, and the small customizations I talked about earlier, no, I don't think I would need to outsource managing my WP site.

Good luck with your business idea mate :) // Feel free to share a website URL with me, would love to see it.

Your website looks smart & it seems like a good offer people would buy.

Just a few things i think could improve:
- I'm not so keen on the Hero image, you could add a better quality one i feel
- Your logo looks a bit low resolution, or could have a nicer font (minor)
- Add a popup / intent to leave offer to boost conversions like "Free Report - 4 Free plugins that will dramatically improve any wordpress site"

Informational for now

2. Do you measure your website visitors? If yes, approx how many visitors per month?

Yes, about 30,000 visitors/month

3. Out of the visitors, approx how many of them convert to sign ups (ex: newsletter, contact form, sales)?

None, no newsletter incorporated yet. I get few user registrations and based on their emails they are mostly spam.

4. Who currently maintains (fixing bugs, customising, managing content) your website?

Me

5. Do you do any online advertising that leads to your website? if yes, how is the conversion rate?

Nope

6. Top issues with managing and maintaining your website?

Website speed. The more functionality added through plugins, the slower the load times. Have been meaning to test different themes for better performance.

7. Are you interested in a free website health checkup? please share your websites here

Sure: dieticle.com

8. Are you interested in outsourcing your website maintenance and management?

Possibly in the future

I face issues all the time with plugins that haven't been updated or aren't modified for specific themes.

Would be cool if a service specifically focused on plugin customization and management.

I loaded a plugin last week. It was almost perfect except hella outdated and missing 1 feature.

Probably something any developer could fix fast, but who wants to go through the trouble of sorting more freelancers?

If an ad for this popped up on Facebook there's a good chance I'd click.

Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions @Sean Haddad

#4 - how much time do you usually spend per day/week/month on maintaining your website?

#6 - How do you find out about your website speed? what have you tried to make it go faster?

#7 - sure will get back to you with one as soon as possible

#8 - how much are you willing to pay for someone to take care of your website? and what does "take care of your website" mean to you?

Not an "issue" per-se, but there might be a better way to handle update compatibility between WP, themes and plugins.

For example:
- When there's a WP update, check theme and plugin version.
- If plugins/themes are not compatible, don't update automatically, but provide manual override.
- Also, have a revert to previous version option as well.

Starting with cheap self-promotion at TFLF is more of a worse idea than jumping from the cliff, if you're serious about your business or plan to stay here longer than a few weeks.

So trying to gather market data on potential customers is cheap self-promotion now?

An attempt to find clients is not "gathering market data".

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I don't see why the two are not synergetic. Your businesses' market is your clients, both current and potential. He's asking questions to both gather data and acquire clients.

Thank you for your concern @devine

Yes like any business, I do want to promote my services.

This post was not meant to promote my service, someone asked for the URL and I shared.

As I am building this new service, I need to get a better understanding of the issues faced by business owners with their website.

In return for their time, I am offering a free fix for the issues on their site.

If that leads to me getting more clients that would be great, however the intention and action behind this post is not a cheap self promotion.
