If you’re looking for the best “Fastlane business” or market, you’ve already misinterpreted the book and you’re Money Chasing.

Find a problem that you can solve and bring value to. Then run that through the CENTS commandments. If you can see scale, then you’ve found the right business for you.

Agree with what most have said - don't chase money, chase needs. It's seems like such a paradox but it will save you time and pain. That being said! It's a perfectly OK question if you're still focused on the needs first. There is a section in MFL where MJ discusses some Fastlane business examples.

Writing A Book - Relatively fastlane as once you create the content, it lives on forever and can earn money passively through small time investments and promotion. Real estate - on a large enough scale affects people largely and earns all hours of the day.

To give you a personal example - I own a piece of software that generates around $15k a month on average. The upfront investment in time and money was big, but I continue to earn money without inputting hours.

Not that I'm proud of it, but I was hungover and sick for three days after NYE. I didn't do anything productive for 3 days and made $1300 while watching tv on the couch.

Seconded on this,

I was 'money chasing' for a long time before i found the fastlane forum. The truth is you have to sacrifice alot and give value proving yourself to the world then the money will come.

Think of money as the pretty lady you're trying to get. The more you creep and obsesses about her she'll pick it up and stay further than you. However, if you focus on yourself and helping other people eventually she'll come around if not her, then another pretty lady(money source) will as well.

Something with recurring revenue or supporting purchases. Products and services that require people to keep coming back to you not just because the product is good, but by its very nature.

A simple example would be shaving butter and shaver blades. Dollar Shave Club has built a nice business out of that. These products get used up in a few weeks, so you need to buy them again.

Email automation services. Drip and MailCheat(Chimp) allow you to make templates and manage mass lists on a daily basis, as well as analytics for bounces and clicks.

A friend of mine just recently got a Honda. He didn't just get a nice car. He got extras, such as a special black screen over the windows to block sunlight, and carpet on the floors that is dirt-resistant. Changed the tires to higher-grade ones. Paid extra for them.

You are speaking about industrial baker, a plant (with production departement, quality département, etc...)
99.9 % of Bakers are just creat their own job, not a fastlane buiseness.
They exchange alway their time against money.
They are not on the good side of cash flow cadran.
To develop your exemples, you need lot of money, big risks, etc...
It s not a lean start up !

In this case, it s better To make a YouTube Channel and FB page (no need money)with a website (no need lot of money) and sell online formation with automatic system !

In this case, that is a possible fastlane buiseness with lean startup "spirit".

Are you agree ?

You're missing the point.

What I think @ZF Lee is saying is that you should focus on provding value. Once you're sure that you can provide value, you can think about scaling. You could start as a baker that makes the best "XYZ" its the only thing you do and people come from far to buy it. Then you can create scale by partnering with an industrial bakery with your recipe and brand name and sell it online or in supermarkets to a larger audience. Fastlane is a way of approaching business, not a particular idea.

Also a tip, every word you've written here shows that you only care about making money. I understand it, I like having money too. But thinking like that doesn't help you.

Wrong question: how can I get money?

Right question: how can I provide value to people?

This second question helps you to think from the shoes of those who will be your customers. And the most important thing of any business is a paying customer. Not the idea.

All businesses can be turned into a fastlane.

Just gotta get creative with it.

Name a business that you don't think can be fastlane.

Even "bakers" and "hairdressers". Turn them into a franchise. Video record the activities that go on in the business - sell it to a TV production company as a reality TV show. Or teach others how to run and operate a successful bakers/hairdressers ... sell the video course online for $999 and offer consultation for $5k.

Most, if not all businesses can be turned into a fastlane business it just takes creativity.

Baker or haidresser create value but they are not on the fastlane
I dunno about hairdressers, but bakers not Fastlane???

Here's a bread product I buy on a daily basis:

adventist2.jpg

Here's a local one that I went to on a daily basis before it got shut down. It contains a cafe concept, but has good tarts and bakery goods.

merc_theloaf2_559683558.jpg

Don't like bread? How about spreads? Here's one I buy regularly as well:

18695_1.jpg

Didn't even know the brand even after buying it many times (I just wanted a good healthy spread, not a brand!) . This is by Peerless Foods. Smooth, yet doesn't taste like artificial crap.

Bakeries and bread in general can be Fastlane...but keep off the yeast lol as best as you can.

Ironically enough, in the sexual marketplace we call these low value men.

I'm guessing you read the French version?

Great perspective on "ordinary" businesses and how to pivot them to FL pursuits.

In 2020 I ran an auto detailing business and found a podcast of a guy who franchised his business and has multiple locations all running off his SOPs. Not only dominating the local area, but can set down the towels and spray bottles while others work for HIS dream across the country.

Two big names on YT pivoted their channels/business by making courses to get more leads, increase efficiency, create maintaince plans, rank higher on searches, etc.

Again, focusing on needs and providing value: what do new (millennial) entrepreneurs want?

For success to be as easy and painless as possible.

If there's a gold rush, sell shovels.

Hello MJ DeMarco,
Nice To speak with you.
That thrue, sorry for my bad summary.
I don t have finish your book. (Its in progress). (Nb : I m french, so your book is a French translation.)
I have just note the importance of the impact law.(number of sales × value of one sale).
In fact, I think that maybe on this forum I can find USA ideas that maybe don t exist again in France.
Currently I work for a boss. I have a litle buiseness too and I m working To know if It s possible to scale it.
I work on this buiseness with the lean "start up spririt", meaning don t use lot of money in a first time, don t quit my real job, just test the market for thé moment.
It s ok, I have some orders but I m afraid that , this buiseness won t use the impact law. Moreover, some people work for me on this buisseness ..and I ll prefer find a buiseness with computer (no absence, no cold, work day and night, etc...)
So I ll continue this buisseness but I m looking for other idea. I have already wrote in this post but In France , there is a guy who developp a software with subscription for property investissement.
To late for me to do the same , but internet is one solution To touch lot of people. Maybe in the USA , you think about simple ideaq that I can copy and developp in France , because dont exist for the moment ?
That my real question.

My thoughts exactly.

The more you give for the sake of providing value, the producer mindset sticks, and questions like this become less relevant to your process. Change your mindset first, then you'll see.

Somebody clearly did not read the book or just skimmed it...

I think the quote was "If you want to make millions then you have to impact millions"

How do you impact millions? By creating value...

Not only.

People must know you or your products !
You can create lot of value/good product, if nobody know that, you loose.
Lot of people forgot that

Yes, you age right but in fact, I m looking idea that I can begin alone and work on this project the night and week end only in a first time. Netflix, Amazon,etc... are hugly, not easy To make and need to develop this buiseness in whole time.
They are not LEAN start up

Your idea of software with subscription is very good.
I m french and in France a guy have made à website with a calculator for house investisseur : no need lot of money to begin, possible to developp this buiseness the night after your job and the week end,etc...

Now, just need to find a problem that a nos software can sold ! Lol

Maybe in the USA, there is a thing that no exist in France ?

Do you have idea ??
