Congrats to Andviv, AroundTheWorld and Russ H -- The Fastlane's newest and first moderators!

They have volunteered (when convenient to them in their visits) to help keep things neat and tidy around here - remove spammers, ban users, close threads, etc.

I personally want to thank them for the added eyes on here as well as their quality contribution to the content of this discussion forum.

Wow, it's an honor.

And I see that one of my first duties is to christen my new set of wheels, as I've gone from "Lexus" to a new kind of car called a "Moderator".

As some of you know, I grew up in Detroit.

What most of you don't know is that I have a long-lost brother who is CEO of a major car company.

A few years ago, he let me design my own car!

So, in honor of my new position, I'm calling it "the Moderator 2000".

Vroooooooooom!

When we were designing the car, my brother came up with another one that I kinda liked, too.

It went faster, but didn't have the cool megaphone attachment (it kept blowing off at high speeds).

And I need at least 8 cup holders.

Since it's just sitting here in my garage, I'd be happy to give you this car.

I think the key to a successful board (or atleast one key) is that the RULES have to support the GOAL. Heck... for that matter the Goal has to be in line with the VALUES...

I would venture a guess that the GOAL of the RD boards is volume to the site.... nothing else.

I am happy to moderate a site in which the developer is striving for QUALITY.

I have nothing to base this on, since Darth has never said this, but given the enormous workload he has at RD (easily doing the work of 5 people), I think his philosophy may be driven, in part, but which approach is the most expedient.

Wow, Russ is going to be a moderator!!! I've seen Russ try to keep order in boards where he wasn't a moderator, so you know he means business! Go Russ! Oh, and that car, I'm just 'Lovin it.

Acutually, I was a moderator on the RD forums at one time. Once I realized that we couldn't do anything efficiently, and we had no power to boot the scammers/spammers, I turned in my badge.

But I never got to use this cool car over there!!! :smilielol:

I think there were rocket launchers in both of the side air dams.

Maybe see if you can squeeze 2 megaphones in there? (you might lose the rocket launchers, though).

You never know when you're going to need a good rocket launcher.
