Web Performance Optimization niche site

Hi,

I am developing a niche site where I offer my services of WordPress performance optimization. That is I make your WordPress site lighting fast. These days loading times matter a lot to Google and to final users in general.

The only "problem" is that I've done a quick search on the Google Keyword Planner on keywords like "web performance optimization" or "make my site faster" or "make website faster" and the demand is really low. 100 queries a month and most of those I bet are looking for post articles that will help them DIY, not to hire services.

So do you think this is enough of a niche to setup a landing page to sell the service?

To be honest I'm not really good with Google Adwords and the keyword planner so I might have made a mistake. That's why I'd like to offer you my service (I'll make your site lighting fast) in exchange for some feedback or guiding on how to build a niche site on this.

Also I know that I could setup a blog write 100 posts and after a year I'd become an authority and would be able to sell some of my services. But do you think it is possible to do it faster? Selling the services right away doing some PPC?

Thanks

Hi,

I am working on something similar (website maintenance) while offering speed optimization within the maintenance.

The issue is people are not looking to speed up their website because they don't even know it is slow or it can go faster.

The ones that do know will outsource the work to a freelancer on Upwork or similar.

You may want to sell the service for it's value using Facebook ads for example by mentioning what are the benefits of having an optimized website.

What I have found is it would be more difficult to sell to a wide range of users at the same time, find a target profile (one customer) that can benefit from your service the most and talk to them to understand what is the problem you are solving for them.

Then you can use that problem -> solution in your marketing and target people with similar websites/businesses as that target profile.

You can later adjust your targeting and go after different profiles but it's much better to start small, the more targeted the better.

All the best!

Thanks! this helps a lot.

What about cold calling/emailing websites that are clearly slow? Have you tried that @WebMedic ?

Attempts to cold email slow websites all failed.

There were not many attempts (~10) but they never reply, it could be the approach.

I tried by sharing with them that I am working on a new service that helps their website and attached report of their website with recommendations on what can be done.

10 cold emails is not even an attempt.

I've done some cold email marketing for my biz, I maybe get 2-5 "hot leads" out of every 100 emails sent. And that's with having them on an auto-follow up campaign, that asks them 3 times if they had a chance to read my initial email. (Quickmail.io)

It could be your approach too, but 10 emails may as well be zero, and doesn't provide you any data. The Quickmail blog has some very good info about how to be better at cold emailing: https://quickmail.io/blog/

#1 is that you don't launch into your pitch on the first email. Pesonally, anyone who does that to me gets the spam button. I've had success sending an email "asking for the appropriate person to handle X". They either respond back saying "Yes, that's me", or they forward to whoever is. Either way, a dialogue is opened, and they are acknowledging that you can proceed with your pitch.

Thanks for this @amp0193 ! I'll certainly do that.
Do you think it is really important to have website or could I just start sending emails right away?

Btw, if you have any WordPress site that you would like to have it flying (loading in 2s or less) please let me know. I'll do it for free for you.

Not everybody knows their website needs to be faster, but a lot of people want better search rankings and we know speed is a factor. So the keywords you need to look for buying traffic from are going to be SEO related.

I would probably have a call to action along the lines of "Is Speed Why Your Site Won't Rank?", with a squeeze page promising them a report on how to see if their site is slow, then a three or four page report with links to all the common tools, but some info on how to read the report and how to contact you to help.

Personally, the first thing I would do if someone started pitching me, is I'd go to their site and read about them before responding back. Why would I trust someone emailing me out of the blue?
