This morning we reviewed one of our Google Ads accounts.

Last week it ran at 49.65% CTR and 35.63% conversion rate (albeit lowish numbers), so what could we possibly do to improve that?

We made a small tweak, and found a possible tweak we may apply later.

Here’s the video on YouTube.

Would love to know your takeaways.

You may want to check audiences too @Andy Black

I do similar type of niches. I found that "renters" typically do searches, but can't really "convert" if the landlord owns the appliance. This impacts a few other industries too.

I'd look in your audience report and see if renters ( if you have it on observation ) are costing you money... and if so, excluding them.

Interesting. I’ll check that. Thanks @eliquid!

He does get tenants contacting him, as well as landlords and home owners. I’ll ask if the tenants convert or not.

We might not exclude any audiences for this county since search volumes are so low, but we’ll definitely check for Dublin which is a much bigger population.

Great point. As a rule, we will add home ownership status as an observational audience over top of search for this exact reason. We do a variety of industries, and only about 25% of the time do we eliminate one group, but we've been surprised how often we prefer to show ads to either renters or homeowners.

We will also add education level as a standard observation.

My big takeaway from the video is this: you don't have to run huge budgets to get quality results. A lot of people treat AdWords like it's a numbers game, that you just have to have enough clicks. But if you're targeting is spot on, your CTR and conversion rates hit numbers that most AdWords people never see.
