In the age of AI and facial recognition, the only way to avoid government knowledge of one's public movements is to adopt a facemask culture. It's incongruent that advocates of liberty resist imposed privacy. In a sea of masks, a mask is not suspicious.

I'll throw on my tinfoil hat.

The government already knows everything and anything about everyone. It would be foolish to believe otherwise, police constantly check license plates, know your home address, government & tax man know where you work, how much you make and so on. Combine that with CCTV and we probably are being watched by someone, especially the people that buy Amazon echos LOL.

MJ talked about this briefly in Unscripted , we are all kind of free range chickens in a way, try leaving the country without a passport and see how that works out for you.

Just saw you are from China....... yikes

> The government already knows everything and anything about everyone.

No it doesn't. The government is incredibly incompetent. And if one wants to oppose the government, or preserve one's liberty, then one wants a mask culture. Anonymity was integral to the American revolution.

If one decides to do something illegal, one should leave one's cell phone at home, don a mask and ball cap, merge unremarkably with crowds of others in similar attire, and thereby achieve anonymity.

One needn't wear a medical mask. More comfortable lower-face coverings exist.

What are they going to do tell me to take the mask off? Kick me out for wearing a mask? Call the police cause I’m wearing a mask?

A full balaclava is suspicious outside deep winter. I got something from this keyword set:

half-balaclava, neck gaiter, bandana, cycling mask, face scarf, ear loops

For the hardcore, AI-defeating or facial-recognition defeating clothes do exist, and look weird. Probably too distinctive for anonymity. A masked rioter was recently identified by her Etsy t-shirt.

Kick you out for not wearing a proper mask covering both your mouth and nose unless you're getting a ski mask that covers both. It's funny how easy it is now to commit crimes. You can straight up walk into a bank with your entire face covered and nobody can question you until you pull out your gun.

There was a violent crime here in Barbados a few weeks ago when "masked" guys shot someone. LOL what did you expect? Almost everyone here wears a mask so you can't make it easier for criminals to shoot people and get away with it.

Big Tech is watching you.

This is where we live now — a world in which nearly every smartphone or electronic is used to track you, gather info, etc. Privacy is a thing of the past.

If privacy were dead, the (official) US murder and auto theft clearance rates wouldn't be 62% and 14% respectively. Cops and robbers is a game played mostly by the middle and low end of the bell curve.

Big Brother would certainly like you to believe that he is always watching. "Confess and we'll go easy on you." Meanwhile, audits reveal what little brother is actually watching: porn.

Even actual prisoners use their privacy to rule their prisons from below. The less one has, the more it counts.

The increasing atomization of the USA means that at median there is probably less public knowledge of one's behavior than ever before. Neighbors no longer know each other. Instead, they know televised (lies) lives.

As one of many many examples, Nature, one of the most prestigious science publications on earth has been promoting the shut down STEM program. They are wanting to shutdown the advocacy programs for Science Technology Engineering and Math?? This stuff is truly scary where it is leading, and fast.

#ShutDownSTEM and the Nature Podcast

That's terrifying, STEM fields would be the last of the disciplines to get corrupted by the ideologues.

From the nature link:
On the tenth of June, Nature will be joining #ShutdownStem #strike4blacklives. We will be educating ourselves and defining actions we can take to help eradicate anti-Black racism in academia and STEM . Please join us.

Stem is the only way a country can remain competitive, while other majors have importance, the application STEM provides is crucial. I understand the rationale but this is going to ruin everything.

This is along the same lines of the corporations donating tens of millions to BLM and like organization out of utter fear. Al Sharpton isn't missin' a beat, BLM got somewhere north of $1.4+ billion in their coffers.

Sigh, not good! Everyone is trying to be the last one eaten.

Well it's official my uncle and his wife who have been residing in the United States for the past 10 years, are getting everything in order to move back to Australia permanently.

They don't feel safe.

They're likely to vote to REQUIRE masks in my county tomorrow. For those of you outside the United States, a county is a grouping of several cities.

Meanwhile, they expect 6/10th of 1 person (less than 1 person) to contract C0VlD-19 in the next week. Not die, not be hospitalized... just to test positive. Less than 1 person. We have nearly a million people in my county.

The day after November 3rd.
I would say that it depends on who wins.
One will be hailed by the media as the savior of the US, who miraculously cured the disease on his first day in office.
The other? You know how it goes.

The problem isn't that governments are doing the tracking, it's that private interests do.
The government might not know what you do after work, but if you're using an iPhone, Apple knows where you go, who you meet, where you get your drinks, who you talk with and what you're talking about.
Everyone is getting excited about how AIs will make our lives easier, but really they will just make filing everyone easier.
The dystopian future isn't one where governments are following everyone with sneaky cameras and hidden microphones, it's the future where they wont even have to. AIs will soon know us better than ourselves, to the great joy of marketers and salesmen worldwide.

Masks are now mandatory just about everywhere in the Phoenix area. I have seen very little compliance, in my brief excursions to the outside world. I walk in the local park every evening, and only one person is wearing a mask (she's a regular also). I picked up some food from a local restaurant for Father's day and didn't see any of the patrons wearing masks either.

This is quite encouraging.

The media would have you believe that Arizona is leading the way in infections, which is probably true if you consider only the total # of positive cases. What they won't tell you is that the new hospitalizations are in the single digits, back to the levels we saw in the first week or two of March. For a state of 6 million people.

After the coronavirus and the race riots, I can't wait to see what else the powers that shouldn't be have in store for us before the election.

So I read today that Tempe and Scottsdale can fine you $250 AND charge you with a misdemeanor crime for not wearing a mask! This is absolutely crazy. Something must be done to fight back.

That AI increasingly monitors human action is precisely why a public mask culture is crucial to retaining the ability to resist tyranny. Otherwise it will be impossible to move anonymously in public.

Sunshine kills virii, and Vitamin D is protective against COVID19. If COVID19 returns, it will be next winter. By then it will be toothless due to mature countermeasures.

Governments everywhere use COVID19 as a pretext to secure power. Therefore libertarians must also use it as a pretext to secure their liberty. This forces statists to choose between admitting the emergency is over and allowing mass public anonymity.

In fact, if Americans had simply worn their masks in the first place, there would be no justification for lockdown and contact tracing now. Why didn't they? Perhaps it's the cowboy ethos that "only bad guys wear masks". Which betrays a failure to comprehend the difference between "outlaw" and "bad guy". Strange for a country of supposed revolutionaries.

Ah, I know what it is. Heroes, from the Lone Ranger to Captain America, wear masks on their upper faces, not lower! The latter is strictly the province of black hats and terrorists. Sculpted chins and pearly whites are on the side of good and right!

The subdued self-abnegation of the mouth-mask is anathema to Americanism. It is not just anonymity, but interchangeability. Americans prefer the illusion of individual significance to the substance of personal liberty. After all, the people who coined "personal savior" have no need of personal protection! Their god watches over them from every dollar bill, for he knows them each by nine-digit name.

This is true, but from what I read the police aren't going to actively patrol for mask violations. They will respond to calls, but not make it a point to harass the citizenry. I also think I read that they'll start out by trying to educate the criminals on the benefits of mask wearing ( I view this is an opportunity to educate them on their duty to resist unconstitutional orders ), so I don't think it'll end up being a big deal ultimately.

I really haven't seen much mask wearing, even before the order. I don't see too many people here complying, or ratting out others.

I really hope I'm not wrong, but I suppose we'll see.

Cops came into my work today.

A member called them and said we weren't following the guidelines.

(Bootlickers)

Wanna know what's funny?

The cops didn't even know the guidelines! They asked me what they are because they want to know for the gym they go to.

They entered and I told the cops to fill out a form for contact tracing, they were taken back by it lol.

they said oh I need to do that? Ok.

They come to tell me off, but yet I boss them around, fill out the form and wait please I'm with a customer.

They were friendly.

And even more funny they weren't social distancing.

But I didn't pull them up on it because I thought me telling them to fill out the form already got my point across.

They left soon after.

I feel you on this. To get through this, I've spent many times in the woods, alone from people, touching and being in nature.

Thats the only thing that is real anymore. The things I can touch.
Agreed on this. The only time I can start to feel normal is to get off the technology, and sit out among the trees listening to the wind gently blowing through the leaves and branches.
