So far, your posts in this thread have been as much of a contribution as Rivolis, so keep it up!

I don’t really understand the reason for your inflammatory attitude honestly. I have shared very little in this thread compared to excellent posters like @GIlman @Vigilante @ChrisV @million$$$smile @Bekit and @Andy Black

The stuff I have posted had an economic viewpoint. I didn’t realize this thread was limited to hysteria only.

New Zealand's entry in the Idiocracy Sweepstakes-

Hundreds of green-costumed University of Otago students celebrated St Patrick's Day yesterday despite requests to limit large parties in the wake of the C0VlD-19 outbreak.

It comes after the university urged students not to gather in big groups to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and to be socially responsible.

Dunedin's first coronavirus case was confirmed yesterday, a man in his 40s who came from Germany.

Hours after the announcement it was confirmed that one of his children, a student at Logan park High School in Dunedin, was also positive.

For students, celebrations started early, with some opening their first drink by 6.30am.

By mid-morning, students were gathered in a park near the North Dunedin cemetery, speakers blaring and drinks in hand.

"I think that we are the reason that it will spread, but we may not be the reason that it gets really bad ... because we don't get really bad symptoms, but we can pass it on to older people and that's where it goes bad," one student said.

While many know how to help limit the spread of coronavirus, they said it wouldn't stop them from partying.

"Wash your hands, guys. Stay at home, don't do what we're doing, wash your hands, look after your grandma and granddad."

I don't regard myself as big conspiracist but something about this just doesn't sit right with me.

It just seems odd that there are all of these small countries all over the world with small populations that have maybe one confirmed case. I understand that possibly traveling in and out could cause some of this to occur, but it just makes me wonder if this virus wasn't somehow "planted". It just doesn't seem quite right..

Check out all the countries on Worldometer that only has one case.

Makes me want to be tested.

Imagine if 10-20x as many Americans have had this than they initially thought. That is actually good news because it means we have recoveries that have fought it off. These are also people that can re-enter the world without worry about infection or spreading.

Kyle remember how sick I was and for how long in January?

So far your two post main sub-threads have been that price gouging is good (pretty minor sub-topic in a thread about the virus itself, as MJ rightly pointed out) and that the mainstream media is losing its mind because the president used an unscientific and ill-advised term for the virus. How does either of those posts add anything of value to the overall discussion besides advancing your own ideological beliefs? Very few people here are hysterical, but very few people are trying to use this discussion for ideological purposes either. You are and I am calling you on that shit.

Hey, you only quoted half of what I said. I said "I am unfortunately, American, and therefore stuck with our terrible health insurance system."

I didn't say I preferred authoritarian countries. But all other G-20 countries have better health care insurance and delivery systems than the US.

1) I have lived in other countries and reported on other country's health care economics. My job is to focus on journalism about health care. Ours has terrible financial consequences, even for people with significant financial means, and very uneven delivery which is largely based on your ability to pay - and how functional your insurance is.

2) I guarantee that we will see far-ranging consequences from the structural issues with our health care financial systems that will possibly even outweigh the employment consequences. Liquidity solutions will not fix the rampant cost and billing issues that we've built into the system.

3) we pay the most per person for health care in the world, and yet, people die from lack of health care and we do not rank the best for health care outcomes, actually we rank the lowest in the G-20.

4) 1 in 5 US workers have had hours reduced or been laid off over the weekend due to C0VlD-19. Yet we tie health care to employment in this country, bizarrely. This is going to cause huge delivery issues.

A Kentucky novel coronavirus patient checked himself out of the hospital against medical advice. So to prevent him from spreading the virus, officials are surrounding his house to keep him there.

You can't make up this level of dangerous stupidity. How about they charge him with one count of attempted murder for every person he gets within 6 feet of? I'm sure the police don't have anything better to do than babysit this idiot.

I have said this multiple times as well. There are early indications that some patients develop injury to kidneys, heart, liver, and of course lungs. These are all tissues with high quantities of ACE2 enzyme which is the binding point for the covid virus. Incidentally sars bound to the same protein.
This fits with my experience, having suffered countless bouts of pneumonia in my lifetime.

The first respiratory specialist I consulted told me "Your lungs won't kill you - it will be your heart." He was also the first respiratory specialist to write me off.

He was very close to being proven right when I was rushed to hospital for emergency open heart surgery. In passing I add, this is what put a stop to my negotiations under way at the time for a huge deal, selling a nationwide Master Franchise. It also put a stop to my entire worldwide business.

Beyond that, if you knew me, you would know that I am not even close to a supporter of our authoritarian socialist president nor did I even mention him in that post.

Ideology? Please. It was pertaining the entire time snowflake.

And what kind of intelligent discourse are you providing to this thread Trevor?

I'm not a mod, but maybe let us not resort to personal attacks, or use of gender-based insults and instead keep this focused on the issues.

This is a bit of an incomplete look at the idea of a coronavirus.

Up until 2002, there were 4 known coronaviruses that affected humans. They produced symptoms of the common cold. When you say that people have been experiencing health problems for at least 30 years from coronaviruses, they were probably suffering from one of these 4 viruses.

(Keep in mind that there are many more than 4 coronaviruses in the world. Different coronaviruses affect other animals, such as dogs, birds, pigs, or bats. However, only 4 coronaviruses actually affected humans.)

In 2003, a 5th coronavirus was identified in humans: SARS. SARS caused 8,096 cases and 774 deaths. [source]

In 2012, a 6th coronavirus was identified in humans: MERS. MERS has caused about 2,494 cases and 858 deaths. [source]

In 2019, a 7th coronavirus was identified in humans, and it was initially termed a "Novel" coronavirus because its features were different from the coronaviruses we knew up until that point.

Now, we know that 7th coronavirus as "SARS-CoV-2" and we know the disease it produces as "C0VlD-19."

So yes, they recently created a test to detect the presence of this new coronavirus. Because it was spreading to a lot of people and producing extreme disease symptoms, including organ failure and death.

The development of a test did not bring this coronavirus pandemic into the world.

The pathogen came into the world, and people responded by making a test.
Viruses don’t arise suddenly, they mutate. So there are not 4 Coronaviruses, but countless differen of them. The strongest survive and reproduce. Like all other viruses.
And whom Darvins evolutions theory does say something, knows that that cant work in a year or 10.
So viruses are nearly as old as life cells.

And the word pandemiy was used in an other way 30 years ago than it is now.
In Italy80% of the died people with corona viruses in them had at least 2 other, deadly illnesses.

No, I didnt think that only in my brain, a Listened to an interview today. Its in german, but maybe you understand. I ll put the link:

The lung doctor and health expert Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg criticizes the corona measures of politics.
There is no need to panic at all, he says, and misses a scientific debate.
Statistically, we experience a normal flu winter, according to the long-standing SPD member of the Bundestag.

Wait, I’m confused. I don’t have a hand and I’m not playing figurative poker.
Only thing that Kak has destroyed is probably his lungs.
Just when I thought I couldn’t be any more confused.

You literally look like a blowjob on here... Out of nowhere you just decided to pick a fight. This is so unprecedented, in fact, that it is probably the first entrepreneurial thing you have ever done. Bravo.

Again, I ask... What kind of intelligent discourse are you adding? This belligerence doesn’t count.

Is there a test to find out if you already recovered from CV19? You might be immune now.
I read, In China they found several persons having the virus again in them after a 5 week break, where they didn’t find any.

I didn't read the last 5 or so pages because I just got online and I'm about to go to bed but to reiterate because some people clearly don't understand what's the real issue with the virus.

Italy is one of the oldest countries in the world (up there with Japan), and so far here 2500 people have died from COVID, while 2900 have recovered. The total number of infected is 28500. Do you not see what's the issue with these numbers? The mortality rate will be 1% only if all of the currently infected people recover. Yes, we have a old population, and yes, that's unfortunate, but the true issue is that elder people are at extreme risk.

The virus SLAYS (yes, slays) elder people, so don't be stupid and don't put your parents / grandparents / older relatives at risk just because you are going to (maybe, don't take it for granted) be fine.

If reinfection is occurring wouldn’t it stand to reason that vaccines are not going to help?

I read a while back about 2 separate strains in China. An ancestral, less virulent strain (S), and a newer more virulent strain (L). It's probably the case that exposure to one doesn't provide protection against the other. I don't know what it means for a vaccine, perhaps we'll need a "cocktail"?

Yea, also, more and more people take immunosuppressants than ever before because biologicals have developed in the past 20 years. I look like a very healthy 32-year-old - I do double jumps on figure skates, squat 150% of my bodyweight, bike an hour a day - but I also am immunosuppressed and have been for 6 years.
Unless you know all the drugs every single person you come into contact is on, you can't know if you're putting someone at risk.

Wow. Has anyone seen this video of Vanessa Hudgens sharing her 'thoughts' on the coronavirus? I'm not that old, but so many of our young people are so out of touch with reality.
Hundreds of green-costumed University of Otago students celebrated St Patrick's Day yesterday despite requests to limit large parties in the wake of the C0VlD-19 outbreak.

Dr. Brix said in the press conference yesterday that containment of this virus was up to the millennials. I immediately thought of the Smurfest in France and then a voice in my head said, "We're F*cked".

If it ain't real to the normies, it will be now.

yeah but look at Tom hanks
he‘s fine.
his son went on insta and said his dad wasn’t even that sick
probably deflated a lot of concern about this

a lot of millennials are pissed they are getting laid off for the Kung flu
