The whole "health" industry is completely screwed up. Yet, it's image of ease appeals to people, and the health industry survives off of that.

It just plays off of peoples desire to do nothing, and get amazing results in only a week.

I suppose a great way to put it is make a broad statement then use a lot of jargon to make a person feel it's over their head only to follow it up with "well we can fix it with a pill!".

Thanks for taking the time to write and share that, MJ. What many consumers don't understand is that most "information" mediums are loyal to their advertisers, and not their subscribers. The subscribers are in essence recruited to get eyeballs on the advertising. The information/entertainment/whatever is secondary. More often than not it's just mind candy.

It just plays off of peoples desire to do nothing, and get amazing results in only a week.

The explanation is plain and simple. Once again we return to our "event" vs "process" dichotomy.

Events: Take a pill and get healthly, lose weight, feel good.

Process: Go to the gym, workout, exercise, eat right, build lifestyle habits.

Once is easy, one is not. Such is anything in life worth accomplishing.

BTW: I understand that drugs are sometimes necessary but here in America, necessity has been tossed out in favor of convenience and laziness.

I've said it jokingly for years now but hypocrisy is the American way. Seems everyone telling me something is really doing something else.

Events: Take a pill and get healthly, lose weight, feel good.

One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small.
And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all.

Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall.

TV is just as bad. half the dang ads are prescription drugs, with an auctioneer speeding through all the side effects and disclaimers at the end. Good thing for digital recording and commercial skipping.

Years and years ago i picked up a popular health and fitness magazine. I found it frustrating but then amusing that they would have an article at the beginning telling you one thing, then flip through a few advertisements for pills and crap, and they have an article telling you why a certain style of food and exercise is bad for you. Only problem was it was the style they were advocating earlier :p I've never picked up another one of those magazines in my life.

I am just horrified at the unnecessary hard core medication people take. I have seen someone in my immediate family take crazy stupid amounts of medication for years only to be told 20 years later they were misdiagnosed. And don't get me started on giving kids drugs for ADD. Are you fricking joking? Your kid doesn't have ADD. You are just not raising them! And the answer is drugs? Slow clap for you.. ok.. rant over..

Nothing Is better than a new dead lift max or a new bench PR.

No pill or "short-cut" will give you the same feeling.

Great write up MJ! I often dream of a day where people learn to vote with their wallets.
