We see it here all the time here at Fastlane. Someone posts a success story or a personal break through, and like clockwork, someone always asks "what exactly did you do? I mean like, tell me the EXACT steps!"

How do I succeed? How do I make millions?! How do I X, Y, and Z?

Well by popular demand, I give you the exact steps!

Here we go:

The Exact Steps For Entrepreneurial Success!
  1. Read the book, get excited and post forum declaration about making $10M in the next 10 months!
  2. Act.

And the beauty of these EXACT STEPS? They also will tell you EXACTLY where you will fail! Take a look at STEP 3.

That is the place where most people make failure permanent.

STEP 3 is also the final destination for people who say "I gonna give this FASTLANE thing a try!"

Oh really? Going to the gym ONCE ain't gonna make you a fitness model!

How am I supposed to act?

Buy business cards. Make sure they say "CEO".

Then get a logo designed.

And here's another important point...

Even after reaching #35 (SUCCESS!) the process starts ALL over again.

Except next time, it might not be 35 steps long, but only 12 steps long. The fact is, no one has a 100% success rate. Even the VC billionaires don't succeed 100% of the time (if they did, ALL of their investments would make fortunes and go public) -- they endure the same process, albeit their learning curve is much shorter.

Great post.

The most wonderfully ironic thing is, even if you wanted to give the 'exact steps' they don't even exist, and if they did exist, they wouldn't work anymore! Your journey is yours, love the journey, love the process! That's what it's about boys and girls.

Come on. Any self respecting action faker knows the logo comes before the business cards.

Great post.

That's what it's about boys and girls.

"il love the journey after my first million"

famous marketer eben pagan is a former dating coach ( david angelo as his pen name)

a thing he said about dating that really made me think :

" most guys want to know the exact thing to say to a girl. but the perfect thing to say doesn't exist. "

dating is about mastering the dating mindset, not the perfect thing to say

same thing in business.

business is about mastering the business mindset, not finding the perfect steps

Bump.

In your opinion, what is the difference between two people with zero experience starting from step 1(read the book) and one person's journey ends at step 35(Success) while the other at step 70?

My guess would be knowledge, experience, focus, and productivity.

it reminds me of Brian Tracy's saying:

he says " you will succeed 10 % of the time. you will fail nine time and have a big success on the 10th time

so what would you do with my promise ?

you would fail fast ,wouldn't you ? in order to go quickly to the big success ! "

I still don't understand how so many people think there is a secret or "exact steps".

I mean just think about this intuitively, how you're gonna be successful is gonna be totally different than some guy on a business INSIDERS article or on a youtube video.

I mean we all have different experiences and different problems we face, our lives take different courses.

Are the principles gonna be the same? Sure. Warren Buffett and Mark Zuckerburg created value to get rich but the exact steps are light years apart.

I think a more productive and effective thing to do is to just get a pen and paper or a whiteboard and evaluate YOUR life and plan out YOUR next steps to get where you need to go. Instead of buying a $1k course.

I mean if you are "stuck" then the biggest thing you need is self-awareness. Because 99% of the time we fail cause our own self-sabotaging behaviors and mind.

I mean think of business as an "efficient market" like in stocks. The people who win are those who think independently and know something other don't like INSIDERS trading.

Want to win like an INSIDERS trader? Then stop looking for answers outside yourself.

I could've sworn there were actually 67 steps to success...

Darn, you're right! As such, I've modified the thread and the title to reflect the 67 steps.

I'll be a partner in your company. Did I mention that step 36 is give me your banking details?

Couldn't have agreed more! Success is definitely based on experiences, adjusting and re-trying. It's a thought that should drive you to create opportunities for yourself. Everyone should apply seasons to there lives just as nature itself has seasons. Winter- Contemplate/formulate new ideas. Spring- Implement the new ideas/start them. Summer- Work hard on making sure your labor is baring fruits. Fall- Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

@LittleWolfie do you have a progress thread? not a rant thread. not a goal thread.
something where you have done the following:
- read the books
- studied the forum deeply (not just made a bunch of 'why that won't work for me' posts)
- run CENTS on several ideas
- done some initial mkt research / sales work to get the 'echo'
- have a pretty decent idea and the first few steps started

If you don't have all this together, quit posting about what doesn't work. Read, study, and actually run the analysis on ideas until one seems to have some traction. This may take 1000s of ideas to find one that gets an echo. Keep going. Don't immediately jump back to the forum and your failure loop discussion. Don't make excuses. CHANGE YOUR MINDSET. If something doesn't work, good. You are now closer to something that does. Study 'why' it didn't work. Rinse. Repeat.

Once you have done this homework, start a progress thread. Tag me (and others) in it and we will do everything we can to help you get rolling.
