Hey Fastlaners,

So I've been lurking for quite sometime now, and through a constant battle of my own inner thoughts/lack of action I finally decided to go all in on my Web Design Business.

I would like to mention that at this current moment in time, I have had a constant struggle with motivation/discipline with myself. I come from a Middle Class family here in Australia, and my parents have come from the Philippines.

My Dad owns his own Cleaning Business (although it's not Fastlane as he works IN the business, not ON the business), and my Mum works as a Supervisor for a Cleaning Team in a Children's Hospital.

They work 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, and I've been seeing the Financial Difficulties start to cause major stress in both my Mum and Dad. Their main worry is Finances, and whenever I have a sh*t/lazy day, I feel guilty, as if I'm taken advantage of the opportunities that my Parents have sacrificed (and are still sacrificing) in order for me to have a 'comfortable' life.

Through watching David Goggins, and reading the Threads here, I've realised I'm too damn comfortable, lazy and undisciplined.

I haven't really had an 'OH SH*T' moment which pushed me to change my mindset. I haven't come from a place of adversity, but I constantly see this with my own family. It's easy to make excuses when you're not the one doing the sacrificing, but that's a mindset I have been working constantly to change, but being 'comfortable' comes back to bite me in the a$$.

Now as to the reason why I'm starting from scratch, it's really because I didn't know what the hell I was doing last year, and earlier this year, now my goals are crystal clear and I have the experience to back it up.

To recap, here's a brief timeline of my experiences/achievements/failures over the past 2 years:

- Closed my first client via Gumtree (Australian Auction Website) @ $2,000 - Car Wheel Auction Website
* This was outsourced to a team in India in which I managed. I kept $250 *
- Closed my second client from my Personal Network - @ $100 + Affiliate Commissions - Life Coach
* Created the website with no study/skill in Web Design (simply copying other people's designs via Drag and Drop builder) - overall pretty terrible website
- Closed my third client (who was actually my Dad) @ $250 + Affiliate Commissions - Cleaning Business
* Copied the design of other websites with no real knowledge on web design via Drag and Drop Builder - overall pretty terrible website
- Closed my fourth client @ $5,000 - Meal Preparation Copany
* Outsourced it to my team in India. This contract went sour real fast, and I ended up losing $2.5k as a result, but also ended up providing a pretty damn good website. I'll save this story for another time.

-- At this point I decided that I wanted to actually LEARN Web Design, instead of winging it and outsourcing it and keeping small profit margins --

It was at this point that I also realised that my services were sub-par, and people actually wasted real money on a sh*tty product (which I provided, smh). Learnt this the hard way being naive with no real work ethic/focus on actual results for my clients.

- Bought Fox's Web Design Course, and am currently studying it to the T.

I've decided to start from scratch as the 2 websites I did myself aren't worthy of showcasing as they produced 0 results. The first website was not designed by me, and looking back on it, I would make MAJOR improvements on it. The last website is the only one worthy of being on my portfolio, but has quite the back-story and at the current moment I can't get a testimonial from the client.

Having experienced working with clients and outsourcing it, I figured why not learn this whole web design game myself and create killer websites in which I can completely control.

Action Plan:

- Plan, Design and Develop my Portfolio
- Learn how to craft compelling Copywriting
- Get my first client who fits my criteria - aiming for clients who benefit from a Static website that they won't need to be able to edit themselves. Also try to get recurring income via Maintenance Plans
- Learn Wordpress Development

This thread is more for me, to hold myself accountable. To be perfectly honest, I have had a track record of telling people that I would do something, but never do it -- like going sticking to my diet. I want to keep this thread here as a reminder to take action.
