Afternoon Everyone,

How are you all doing?

I'm caught in two minds about what to do regarding the Social Media aspect of my business, I've got everything almost good to go and want to start building up brand awareness over the next two month prior to launch.

One thought of mine is to manage all the Social Media myself however the sticking point I have with that is that I don't feel like I have the necessary skills or time to do and I know the Social Media following could be a game changer with this business.

So the other thought is to hire someone to run it for a couple of months while I focus on other aspects of the business such as the product and website however I am concerned about giving up that bit of control.

Has anyone outsourced their Social Media Marketing? If so how did you get on? Would you do it again?

Hi Aardvark,

It's some coincidence that you've posted this as I've just launched my own Social Media Management Agency and I'm looking for likeminded people that I can help. :playful:

The reason I created my own Social Media service was because I was launching a previous business and couldn't find any Social Media company that was in my price range or spoke my language. They all felt far too corporate for my tastes. So I set one up of my own!

The general Social Media launch process that I've used to some success in the past is as follows:
  1. Identify the social channels where your target audience hangs out
  2. Solidify your brand messaging — what information will resonate with an audience with social media?
  3. Understand with social channels best complement your website’s conversion optimization process. Ultimately, your goal is to create a steady stream of buyers.
Sounds obvious but it's crazy how you can forget to break down a product launch to it's simplest elements.

I've just started working with my first couple of clients but I'd love to help you with your launch too. I'll create a Social Media Audit/Plan for you and manage your Social Media for a month or two (free of charge) to see how we work together if you like

Please take a look at my site www.gosocialnow.co.uk and let me know :)
PS ( Apologies if linking to my site breaks any forum rules, I took a look at the terms of service and couldn't find anything against it so fingers crossed)

Fix your website
- font spacing
- website loads slow
- the layout jumps around and does funky stuff as it loads

Thanks for the feedback. Did you access it through mobile or pc? I built it using rebelwebsite builder and it's tricky getting the fonts to be consistent . It's still a work in progress and I'm still learning.

Afternoon Everyone,
Has anyone outsourced their Social Media Marketing? If so how did you get on? Would you do it again?

1 month ago I had virtually zero social media skills. I had no personal social accounts, and had never even seen Instagram before.

FWIW, The past month I've been doing 100% of my own Instagram marketing. I've completely stayed away from all automated tools, and am doing everything manually.

I have learned sooooooo much about... everything, this way. By following and commenting on the followers of my competition, I have a very good understanding of my target customer now, and it's a bit different than I thought it would be. I've learned what successful marketing campaigns competitors have done to be successful, and have adapted their strategies for my own use.

I committed to posting once every day, and the data I have received has been priceless. Each post is a test on the market. What do the customers respond to. What gets them wanting to buy. What gets them engaging and asking questions. What do they "like". This will help me tailor my copy, my offer, my product design, and my communication with customers to help close sales.

I had always thought I would want to outsource social media... but I just don't know why you would want to alienate yourself from the customers so early on. Eventually, I'll know what I need to know, and can hire someone to do it for me, but I wouldn't change the time spent in the trenches this last month for anything.

How may followes/likes have you built up?

Ive been dabbling with Instagram but seem to be collecting followers very slowly. I also seem to be getting a load of random weird followers from India aswell.

Learning about your market is obviously a huge plus. How many subscribers have you gained, and probably more importantly, how is the engagement on your content? I'm definitely going to do this for a month and see what happens. Great research for copy as well.

The choice of social media channel depends on the service you provide or product you sell. If you do not have time to keep all the social media under your control and follow their activity. You can find a person to do that. I recommend you to visit freelancing website and find SEM expert there

How many subscribers have you gained,

Does it matter? It sounds like he is getting good engagement.

You will sell a lot more to 1,000 very engaged followers than 10,000 irrelevant ones.

If your aim is to sell (rather than social proof for example) you need to stop worrying about the headline figures

Yes, followers is unimportant for the reasons you listed, but since he's doing something that seems like it would attract only quality followers, the number of followers seems very relevant.

I have 300 followers, that are very engaged, and several are dying to purchase my high-priced product (not yet available to sell). I'm getting 50-70 likes an image, with usually 1 detailed question about the product in the comments on each image. A lot of these likes are from people seeing the image on the hashtag, of course, but I try to engage with these drive-by likers, and get them to turn into followers.

My goal for the end of June was 2000 followers, but I've been working on some other things in the past couple of weeks, and didn't fully dedicate myself to Instagram. The results were consistent enough, that I was growing it at 30-40 followers a day, when I was putting in the time. Had I put in more time, I think I could have been adding 60-70 a day.

Social growth is exponential though. The startup is going to be slow. Once you reach a certain point, you growth happens faster. It's harder to get from 0 to 1000, than it is to get from 1000 to 2000, and so on.

I will continue this manual strategy to get to 1000-2000 followers, and then I have some big promotions set for July, that should deliver a huge number of followers (big giveaway partnered with a big influencer). I just didn't want to run the giveaway when my account was brand new with 15 followers.

Have you taken any courses/read any good articles? The best way to learn is by 'doing', I know, but I was wondering if you have any tips for someone who is trying to get into social media marketing.

I have nothing specific to recommend. I read the top 3-4 articles in google for the various questions I had about instagram.

Searching "how to get more instagram followers for business"
Searching "how to market business on instagram"

etc.

Also learned a lot by looking at the "tagged" images of my competition to have a look through past instagram promotions they've done, and got to see first hand what worked really well for them in the past.

Thanks @amp0193

I wasn't asking to judge your results. I was genuinely interested in how it was going because I really love the method you mentioned. Thanks for posting some details. I appreciate it.
