With the right plan, your risk will be low. Feedback from the people who will benefit from your idea (your market) is really the only feedback that really matters. As a first step, try to get in front of the people that your product or service will be serving. Don't try to pitch the idea or sell it, but get their take on anything and everything related to it The problems they're facing. Issues with existing solutions to those problems. What your solution could offer that they won't find anywhere else.
That's the first layer of validation. Folks on this forum are fantastic, but they are not a substitute for talking to the people that your product or service is meant for.
