    Hey guys,

I started a shopify store in the jewelry niche. Till now, I got 550 visits to my site but no sale. Some people even write me DMs on IG and tell me that they will buy a watch etc, but nothing happens.

I'm pretty new to this, so I need your insights to what the problem is.

Is someone here experienced in Ecommerce/Shopify and willing to help? If yes, please take a look at my site: saintvincentwatches.com

    Thanks for your time!

    Best Regards
    V

    Hey Vincent,
    I'd be glad to help.

While 550 visits really isn't a large sample to work from, I'm sure there are some obvious things we can do to improve your conversion rate (and get you your first sale!).

The first thing you need to do if you want help is to provide a link to your site.
If you for some reason don't want it public, feel free to PM me, although i recommend posting it so more people can give their input.

After I can see your site, I'd be happy to check it out and give you a few pointers.

A quick tip for now: leads.

Leads are awesome. Entice your visitors to give up their contact info (name and email) using some awesome free offer. For example you could offer a X% coupon code in exchange for their name and email.

With their contact info you can sell jewellery through email at any time and you become less dependent on people having to visit your site - it's pretty basic and common, but it works.

Edit: Thanks for adding the link! My feedback is imminent.

Sorry, shouldn't really have posted that when I wasn't ready with my full reply.

I'll do a full thread on it soon enough.

Just a quick question; Why are you spending money on Shopify when you have no sales? I'm not questioning your business, I'm talking about Control.

    No problem.

Thought that Shopify is the easiest solution for starters. Especially because of all the useful apps.

Btw, maybe you can also take a look at my site? The link is in the first post.

Look for one of those popular pages on Instagram. Somebody with a huge following. Get them to do a paid shoutout with them wearing your product or something. Social proof is a big seller for accessories and fashion items.

Just out of curiosity, as I'm browsing your site, I keep seeing pop ups "John in Spain purchased the S01 watch" Are people buying now or is Shopify making up fake sales as "social proof"?

Nothing to me looks bad about the site. But as someone who enjoys wrist watches what worries me is that with the abundance of crappy quality Chinese watches flooding the market, how do I know your watches are good?

A couple things would assure me I'm getting a quality product: reviews, more photos of each watch, and talk about the watch quality.

Also, do you have FB pixel installed? All of those 500 who bounced should be assaulted with FB ads now. Retarget.

I was wondering the same thing. Also, I checked your Instagram profile and you seem to be doing really well and have great engagement (or it is perhaps coming from engagement groups). I'm asking since it's seems weird that you cannot make a sale out of this.

Seriously, those pop ups seem timed and excessive if not real purchases. If not real then I would randomize it a bit more with times spread out so it seems a bit more reasonable, if real then you must be killing it!

    1. Not enough social proof to sell your watches at 80 (80 is a lot!). Luxury brands don't base their business model on charity. Instead launch a sale for a set of time and have those proceeds go to charity.

    2. Social Proof: You might have to pay known youtubers, instagram models, or public figure to promote your watches. Also get more instagram followers, the more followers the more social proof.

    3. Get some more "artsy"/better looking pics on instagram. See what MVMT is doing with their brand.

    4. IMO. The selling our product at a better price than our competitors is overdone. Market your stuff as high quality material and luxury and the price you set will reflect if you watches are cheaper than your competitors.

    5. Do a major sale once a month or during holidays but not so often so you don't devalue your brand. Get some more pictures too. On the skeleton watches have zoomed out pics and pics of someone wearing them.

    6. Build email list: Free shipping and discount on first order. This way its easier to get customers for new products.

    7. Throw in a "Luxury handkerchief" (to clean watch), i don't think many watch companies do this.

    8. You can fake some scarcity. Have like one of the watches sold out, a couple left in stock, or this model will not be remade until 2018. If you go the fake review route, don't pick real names, use names you would find in a aol chatroom, but make it easier for the customers to leave reviews so they think it is legit. Set up a phony watch with mediocre reviews to fake legitimacy.

I'm no expert but here are my opinions:

    • I don't like the dementia story. No offense to anyone sick or anything it just kinda turned me away from the site. I think it's weak marketing. No offense.

    • The blue color gives the site a gloomy feeling. Intensify the blue with something more vibrant and appealing if this makes sense.

    • You should make all the pictures with white backgrounds.

    • I was looking on mobile but I can't click or zoom in to look at more features of the watch. It's just one picture.

    • On Michael Kors' site, I can see the back of the watch, the side, and a video of it- when clicking on the watch. Do something like that. Makes it more fun to be on the site.

    • I think the free shipping worldwide is a great idea.

    • I think it's kinda odd that the first few rows are watches but the last row is a bracelet. Make categories if that makes sense.

    • I like the logo. Looks very modern.

    • Make the checkout button orange similar to amazon.

    • Also use the scarcity tactic and also run a discount sale that expires within the next 24 hours or something. Make the consumer feel urgency.

    • Urgency causes distraction and causes the consumer to unconsciously buy, in my opinion.

    ---

These are my opinions. I'm no expert. Just giving you my review from the perspective of a potential buyer. :)

    No hard feelings. :)

I already had my photos posted by a few affiliates and gave their followers a discount code. Not big accounts, only 3-10k. Still got nothing.

Yep, that's social proof. Thought that it may would push the visitors to buy something.

Talking about the quality is difficult because it isn't a real high-quality watch. It isn't a Rolex, you know? Quality-wise you can compare it with Daniel Wellington or MVMT. Don't know how to highlight the quality here?

You think reviews on the site could help?

I'm also working with Followliker, so I get quite some likes and exposure. But there aren't that much clicks on my link. And the people who click bounce...

The popups aren't the purchases at the moment, but all purchases. But I think the visitors could misunderstand it. Does it look fake that way? Could maybe also drive the visitors away.

It looks fake. Customers BS radars are generally pretty good. They know you aren't selling a watch every 10 seconds. They would have seen you in Forbes by now.

    Hey,

What I mean is the color of your banner. For example it's this color:

Instead of that shade of color, use something more bright in my opinion. The current color is dull imo.

Maybe you can look here for some ideas:

For the flash sale idea, it could work. Edit the current price with a price drop and put a new dollar amount in red color font.

    For example:

    ITEM: WATCH

Old Price : $90.00 (Be sure to cross out/slash the number i.e. $90.00)

New Price: $59.99 (limited time only or offer ends in 2 hours)

(This is just an illustration/example to help communicate my thoughts)

Or refer to amazon and catch how they do it:

    Hope this helps/makes sense.

Fix your favicon, the one you currently have looks like it was made on paint. Might wanna replace it with your current logo because it totally kills your credibility in my opinion.

    Nice DW knockoffs (quality included)
Logo also looks ripped off from Armani (with minor modifications)

Create something unique and you may have some success.

Thanks for your suggestions. Changed the color of the bar. Better?

Thank you for your input. Changed the favicon. Logo is a bit difficult because it gets a bit blurry at that size (32x32px). Better now or change it again?
