Only to be kidnapped by Disney who puts the poor girl into a whorehouse to die used and abused as one of their sex-slaves.

Obviously after the first 4 Disney abominations, I'm biased.

No I haven't seen it and won't until I stumble on it for FREE during a sleepless night.

There's some serious nostalgia baiting going on in that trailer. I honestly doubt it'll be any good though, the characters and plots of the lase few movies were so confused and hamfisted I can't see them fixing it time, my guess is that it's gonna be another confused mess and they'll keep nostalgia baiting to convince people to go see it, none of these disney movies stand on their own merits.

I went to see it last night. I was still jetlagged from Hawaii and wide awake last night, googled the movie and it turns out my local theater sells last showing tickets for $5 so I went.

Just having to put that first sentence in justifying why I went to see Star Wars on opening night says alot about what's happened to this franchise. LOL

So here's my non-spoiler opinion. It sucked at first, got better and became decent and then sucked again. I can see why the audience reviews are actually decent. It was full of holes but just not as dumb as the previous one.

Basically what they did was just ignore the second movie and did a complete re-write.

There's a scene where the escape running into something by jumping into hyperspeed. Which basically is showing that you can't hyperspeed into a ship any more. Hyperspeed is more like teleporting now.

I thought the death star exploded completely? How did it fall onto on planet?

It's better to be a dead Jedi because you can pretty much do anything you can do while alive.

They couldn't do it, they couldn't kill any of the old main characters. I thought they were actually going to do it. But nope, Chewy was alive and 3PO got his memory back.

The movie is pretty much like Return of the Jedi.

I will say Adam Driver did a great job acting Kylo/Ben.

One of the few redeeming parts.

DID THEY KISS JUST SO HE DIED. It would have made SO MUCH MORE sense that HE continued the Skywalker lineage once he turned into the light. For HAN. For Leia. "I'm Rey... Skywalker" UHHH NO YOU ARE NOT. MARY SUE TO THE POWER OF TWENTY. No character development at all she's just OP with a bare minimum of training and the whole plot comes to her. How come she thought Chewie was dead but then she is able to feel him once she's in the destroyer? And Palps? HE KILLED HIMSELF. Again, after so much building (like with Snoke) He dies. JUST LIKE THAT. "Oh she's reflecting all my power, I'll just keep shooting". UUUUUUGH.

Yes it's Disney and it's action/family-friendly and the first movies were also corny so I wasn't waiting for mind-blowing twists. But once you have a whole canon universe you would think you wanna try to follow it and make sense, no?

I thought it was a fake trailer. 1:30 of old scenes and 30 seconds of new scenes that IMO looked pretty bad. And yes, that stupid light saber at the end really sealed my opinion to not see this.

But in other news, the Mandalorian is something that I would watch.

Still, don't know what the new trilogy is all about... Started off good with The Force Awakens, but completely shat the bed with The Last Jedi.. and from the trailers, this last movie looks even worse.

Personally think all of the new movies suck. So much wrong with the force awakens. I dont care about any of the things that happen or get emotionally invested in any of the characters. Its all blah

JJ makes great stand alone movies, but he didnt do well with star trek, and Star wars is mixed reviews. I personally didnt like Force awakens (it was pretty much a recycled a new hope). The last Jedi was better, but still didnt really stand out to me. Maybe this one will be better, but everyone is right so far, that preview and light saber are awful...

This makes absolutely no sense. Why even put out a trailer this way. I can understand a few scenes, but to make most of the trailer old scenes? Out of the 2:11 trailer, 44 seconds was new footage.

Maybe the new movie is sooooo good that they can't afford to show you any of the other scenes!

I'd love to see this flop so hard. They made excuses when Solo flopped because it was a stand-alone movie. Let's see what they say about this one.

I enjoyed the last Jedi far more than the Force awakens, but both were still good overall. I think peoples expectations were too high. You couldnt possibly duplicate the original trilogy. There is so much emotion attached to it. Not even George Lucas could do it with the prequel series.

horrible disappointment, i was actually bored by the end.
There was no sense that Rey's final powers were earned, it was like a realization or something.
like "oh shit that's right, all the jedi blah blah i am powerfuL!"

the palpatine was a caricature of the original boss a$$ palpatine, what a shame.

The new movies are so disappointing that they only way they can assure their billion dollar boondoggle is by trying to hook the new with the old, to fool folks like me who gave up on Star Wars four movies ago.

I won't give it a dime.

PS: I'm guessing the "Dark Rey" snippet is again, nothing but some stupid dream Rey has ... they cut the scene into the trailer so everyone can get worked up about and go into the film with a sense of intrigue, when like the rest of the movies, there is no intrigue so just make shit up... I expect the film to follow the same tropes, the same political narratives, and the same mindless "science impossible" mistakes... like Bombs dropping in space and "we can't catch up with the lead ship" BS.


However, one movie that looks interesting though is Ad Astra...

I think Ad Astra is either going to really great or really awful. It feels like another Interstellar, which was great (and in my top 10). I feel like it will be great though, as Hollywood has been doing really well with science fiction lately.
