He sold lightning matches when he was six years old. At the age of 17, in 1943, he founded IKEA -- the mail-order company that later would grow into a multinational €40 billion group.

This is where he came from. A small place with 220 inhabitants:

And he proceeded to become the 8th richest man in the world, and build up a business that spans all over the world.

Here's a quote from him. Translated from Swedish:

"When it gets really tough and it's close to 3-4 AM, pour up some cold water and put your feet in it. Then you can keep going a bit longer."
