Hi,

I am new to this forum and unfortunately I was not able to find an answer to my question here on anywhere else on the web either.

My ambition is to start an instagrampage and post video clips of my favourite sport.

Since I won't be posting videos taped by myself (at least not for a while) I was wondering how much a video basically needs to be edited without violating any copyright laws.

If I like add some music and put my own pages logo on the video will that be enough? How about the music I use in the videos? Can that violate copyright laws aswell?

I just need a push in the right direction, for example a web site having all this info would also be a lot of help.

Any help with this matter is highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards.

Short Answer: No, there's no way to override the copyright of a video or music.

Longer Answer: It depends whether or not your use of the content falls under "fair use."
Generally, if the primary intent of your instagram page is commercial, then that's not fair use.
Adding your logo and other things to make it appear like you created or own the content is even worse.

Also, if the music is copyrighted, then you're violating that copyright as well.

Fair use includes things like non-commercial educational use, parodies etc. Even at that, the owner reserves the right to have you take it down.

I'm not a regular instagram user, so I'm not sure how instagram deals with copyrighted material.

For music, always use royalty-free soundtracks to avoid problems.
Incompetech has a large selection of free and great soundtracks to download and use.
