Hello all. I have noticed a number of people inquiring about Rich Dad's seminars and wanting to know more about them. Then I noticed that nobody had mentioned T. Harv Eker's Peak Potentials program which seems to be gaining momentum at a rapid pace. I went to their seminar a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd share my perspective of it. I suspect that you will have a similar experience at Rich Dad's.

This seminar was recommended to me by someone and I was told that if I bought the book I could go register for the seminar for free. I never turn down free advice when possible so I decided to go, although, I did have to take a day off of work which cost me over $300. I don't want to sound too negative about the thing. Honestly, I feel that there are many people out there that would benefit from it. It just wasn't for me. Again, I am not trying to tell you that you shouldn't go but chances are if you're here then you probably already have the right mindset. I have already read the whole Rich Dad series along with many, many other books so for me it was all review. Had I gone 4 or 5 years earlier I might have gotten much more out of it. But by now I have already spent 4 years reprogramming my financial blueprint.

We started at 9:00 am Friday morning and didn't finish until almost 11:00 pm. That was just the first day. I am just slightly overweight but I had to sit between to oversized people on chairs that gave a total of about 18 inches of space for each butt. It was cold, I was tired and achy from the chairs, it was loud, they made us wait a very long time for lunch and dinner and we were all hungry. I am only 36 and was very uncomfortable. I can only imagine how some of the 60+ seniors felt. I do not know if it is true but I have read that they do this on purpose to "break you down". I don't have a hard time believing that.

They did the normal introductions and demanded that we all get interactive with the speaker. "Turn to the person next to you, give him a high five and say 'You've got a millionaire mind!'". I'm just not into that sort of thing. The dancing, the high fives, the talking back to the speaker. I told myself many times that if she asked "Am I right or am I right?", "True or True?", "Good or Good?" one more time that I was leaving. The speaker rarely finished a sentence, purposely hanging on the last word waiting for the audience to finish -----Maybe I'm the exception because most of the people there were really getting into it but it's not my kind of thing. It also seemed like every other person there was an MLMer and was trying to recruit me.

They spent most of the morning teaching us how to manage our money. Good advice for anyone that is clueless about managing money. I didn't disagree with anything they said but most of it was either review or simple concepts.

The afternoon and early evening were spent talking about why. Why do people think what they do about money. This part was very enlightening. Not so much for myself but to realize that there are people out there that really believe this stuff. No wonder they're poor. It helped me look at other people's situations in a different light. I can't say I had any bad ideas about money myself but that is only because I've spent the past four years trying to learn the right way to deal with money. This part of the day was almost a religious experience for many people. There was crying and unbelievable bursts of emotion during and after this exercise.

Finally we got to the late evening. We were all told in advance to bring a $100 bill. I don't want to ruin what it was all about so I'm not going to say. If you're dying to know then PM me and I'll tell you. The thing about it was we were all supposed to say "I rule money. Money doesn't rule me" over and over again. People were chanting it and it was kind of freaky. It was at that point that I felt like I was in a cult. I turned to the person next to me and said if they bring out Kool-Aid I'm leaving. Finally when this exercise was over, it again was like a religious experience for many people.

At several times throughout the day they talked up their other seminars and boot camps. Then did the usual of writing an exorbitant price on the white board and tried to justify why it was so high then finally slashed the price and wrote up a new price at 66% off. All kinds of people at that point ran to the back of the room to sign up. What was funny to me is that if the people truly believed that this boot camp was going to make them millions why not sign up at $6,000 or $20,000 for that matter. Why jump on it when it gets slashed to $2000? If you're rich what do you care about saving the $4000 necessary to make you rich? Several people next to me told me they didn't like being sold to but I reminded them that they were there for free so the least they could do is allow them to try to sell.

The next day, Saturday, we started up again at 9:00 am. This time it was the original speaker's husband. I don't remember his name but he was a very dynamic speaker. We did some hypnotherapy and something regarding an elastic band on our wrists. I don't want to spoil it but let's just say that some people were bleeding. I don't even recall what else went on that day because by now I was really beginning to tune out. This speaker again started selling his boot camp on the Guerilla Business School. He told us all that it IS GOING TO MAKE US MILLIONAIRES. There is no risk. It is so good, in fact, that 80% of the people that take it immediately sign up for the following year. Huh? To me that means that it's not a good class. Go figure. He explained that people go to Harvard business school for 4 years and $250,000 and do not get the knowledge you get from their 4 day boot camp. I have a hard time believing that you'll learn that much but I do believe that you will learn at least something and it will probably be well worth the price you paid. I really got turned off, however, when he was yelling, literally yelling at people for not signing up.

We finally went to a very late lunch and when I got back from lunch I was really getting burnt out. I told myself that if I'm not going to get taught anything and instead was going to be sold to and yelled at then I was leaving. Immediately after lunch the first thing they did was try to get us to buy cases of their books. The theory was that it was a business opportunity because every book had a special code in it with two passports to the next seminar and if anyone using those passports signed up for a class then they would get a commission. I had enough at that point and left.

I can't tell you what happened after that. There was still Saturday night and all day Sunday but I couldn't take anymore. Sorry.

I'm not going to tell you that I do not recommend their seminar because I can honestly see value in it for some people but, unfortunately, 95% of the people there, even though they need the help, will go back to their normal, poor lives come Monday morning.

Hopefully, you have a better idea of what goes on at these "intensive" seminars. I tried not to spoil it for anyone that is going or is still interested in going but if you have detailed questions I'd be happy to answer them but I'll do it through private messages.
